With the sad news that Henin will not defend her title this year who do u think of these of players will win

I don't know, but as someone who was born in France, I'm rooting for Amélie Mauresmo to win it. I have a feeling she won't, unfortunately, but I'd love to see her prove me wrong.

My bet is on Serena Williams. Serena (and Maria) are the only players to win 3 tournaments this year. Maria Sharapova might not be the favorite to win, but she is definitely a threat, even on clay. Ana Ivanovic could reach the finals again this year and/or might win the title if she gets a favorable draw. Elena Dementieva is having a great year so far and could possibly take out Ana again if they get to meet.

And of course, Dinara Safina. Dinara Safina had a really great tournament in Berlin. Winning her first Tier I title beating Henin, S. Williams, and Dementieva to take the title. She would definitely be a huge threat to Roland Garros this year.

Well it certainly does make the draw much more wide open, but there are still a few favorites left to choose from.

My top pick is going to be Ana Ivanovic, although it's a long shot (and she was just upset by a player outside the top 50) I think she could pull off a very good win.

Serena and Kuznetsova are next in line, but then things get a little tricky.  Top seed Maria Sharapova is always going to be a threat, even if it is a clay court event, and Vera Zvonareva is having her best year ever.  These five mentioned have the best shot.

Safina and Dementieva could also win, but depending on the draw could also head out early.  They are both too unpredictable.

Jankovic has lost her momentum she had last year and Venus is just coming back and hasn't had time on the clay to make a decent run.

Radwanska, Azarenka, and Szavay are all too young, and too inexperienced to win this time around, but maybe later at Wimbledon.

So my top pick is Ana Ivanovic (winning over Sharapova in the final)

My personal first pick would definitely be Serena, because she knows what it takes to win the french and she's played exceptional tennis year. My second would definitely be Ivanovic, she's good on clay. But if I could pick up a dark horse that could sneak and take it, it'd be one of my fellow russki's Kuznetsova or Sharapova. But in all honesty I want Serena Williams to win it.

Well, the smart money's on Ivanovic or Serena Williams (if she shows up on good form). Maybe Sharapova. Her game's not great on clay but, without Henin  in the mix, she could do it. As a dark horse, I'm gonna pick Dementieva. She came close in 04 and, with Henin absent, has a reasonable chance of getting the job done this time.

I don't really know how these girls play on clay. I'd love to see Maria do it. I think she can.  Kuznetsova CAN play much better, but what the heck is up with her. I can't even consider her.  Agnieska might put up a good row.  Maybe Jelena... guess I'm not really offering a good enough answer.
