Who will win the NL East, PHILLIES or Mets?

The Phils have the better starting pitching, bullpen (not that Philly's pen is great out side of Lidge), lineup and managing and coaching staff.  The Mets have the better defense, and defense wins championships right?  The Mets have the easier schedule in the final two months.  But for now I'm going with the Marlins, they have 12 game v. the Mets and 9 v. the Phils the rest of the way, which puts them in a good spot to control their own destiny.

Unless they do something more to bolster their rotation than add Blanton, the Phillies don't have a shot. The Mets are more built for the long haul. As for those who say they Mets are chokers, one time does not label a team as chokers. One World Series title in 125 years, on the other hand, does indicate that a team isn't exactly great.

This is a question I would prefer you ask again in september. I however have to say the Phillies. Granted I am a fan, but they are ALWAYS a great august team and if you saw who they played in september you might agree. Remember last year the Mets had the Phillies number until the end of the season. The Phillies and Mets have 5 late season games which could decided this race.

Looking at schedules, I would much rather have the Phillies late September schedule than the Mets. The Mets get the Marlins and the Cubs to close out the season, the Phillies have 2 sets agains the Braves, who they have decimated this year, one agains Florida and one against the nationals. Thats a possible 10 for 12 finish (maybe better) for Philadelphia, while the Mets will struggle to win 6 of their last 10.

Granted the Mets are playing great ball, however I think Philadelphia has the edge, and the experience of already coming back as they did last year. Regardless, it will be a tight race.

Not taking anything from the Mets but I'm not convinced quite yet, it took an extremely hot streak to even get where they're at right now.

The Mets will win....hands down.  The Mets are rejuvenated and ready to go.  The Phillies's top player (Jimmy Rollins) can't get his act together, so how can he lead a team?  The Mets' Pitching is coming around now.  The hitters are finally earning their money and they are starting to click on all cylinders.  The Phillies barely won the division last season.  Correction.  The Phillies didn't win the division last year.....the Mets lost it!!!! That will all be corrected this season.  The Phillies will come back to reality and learn their roles......Their roles as the Mets little sisters!!!!

THis one will be close, the Mets are rejuvinated but they still have a tough schedule to close the season while the Phillies are hanging tough and finish with a pretty easy schedule.  THe Marlins still are in this as well and play both teams really tough so they could find a way to slide in.

Logic tells me that the race is too close to call but my fandom tells me that the Phillies win it by three games.

I'm a Braves fan, and we've had a horrible year when expectations were huge leading off the year...d**n injuries...but there's no way i will be content with either the mets or the phillies taking the title, so i will be pulling for the marlins the whole way...
