The 4 candidates i have is geovany soto, jason kendall, bengie molina, and chris snyder. I didn't include yadier molina because he's having an off defensive season, but still is pretty good and i have no idea what the voters would be thinking if they voted for russell martin again (24 errors the last 2 seasons at catcher is not good at all).

  1. jason kendall.

hes played in 122 games already this season

  2. As soon as I saw the question, Geovany Soto was the first guy that popped in my head.

  3. geovani soto

  4. Russel Martin is the best.

  5. I think there are two legitimate contenders: Soto and Snyder.  Snyder has not committed a single error all season.  Not one.  Plus, he's thrown out 16 of the 56 people who have run against him - over 28.5%.

Soto has the offensive numbers to get some attention, and plays in a bigger market, though.  He's got a .996 fielding percentage, and has thrown out 23 of 82 - 28%.  Not too shabby.  They've each allowed five passed balls.

I think Soto will snag the award (bear in mind Snyder has a lot more days off - Soto has almost 250 innings of work more than him!), but Snyder is the most deserving candidate.

  6. I can see Kendall winning it.  .994 fielding pct. (5 errors) He has thrown out 34 out of 79 base stealers.  43%    Leads in total innings and only has 4 passed balls.  And, he calls a good game.

  7. Jason Kendell
