Who will win the Sicilian Open?
The second episode of the Sicilian Open is scheduled from March 29 to April 01, at the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, Sicily in Italy.
It is organised by the European Tour and has 143 professionals in the field. Out of them, Branden Grace is the hottest contender of the title and is expected to compete well in Italy.
The 23-year-old South African professional golf player is one of the emerging super stars of the European Tour and Sunshine Tour.
He turned professional in 2007 and since then, he has won three professional events in total.
He first recorded his debut win at the Sunshine Tour event in 2010, by scoring 7-under par and 209 strokes in total, at the Coca-Cola Charity Championship.
Then he practised rigorously and improved his performance. He played several events in 2011, and his scoring was tremendous in most of them.
However, he did not win any title in the last year but displayed many amazing top-10 finishes.
However, now he is doing well in the current year and has recorded two impressive wins on the European Tour.
He started the current season in January from Africa Open and finished on the 14th position there.
Then, it was Joburg Open and Volvo Golf Champions where he recorded massive victories. His enormous scores of 17-under 270 and 12-under 280 enabled him to bag leading finishes.
The Joburg Open was played on the East and West course of Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club in South Africa. His performance at both the venues was amazing.
He started the tournament by scoring a long foot birdie. Then he continued and added 20 more birdies and finished by carding 21 in total.
He failed to make pars only four times and bogeyed on the 3rd, 8th, 18th and 2nd holes throughout the four-day tournament.
Grace defeated many leading stars and amazed the spectators with such impressive scoring on both the courses.
His improved performance was also seen at the Volvo Golf Champions, at The Links Fancourt in Georgia South Africa.
He won the title in a play-off mode by scoring an early birdie against Retief Goosen. He scored 22 impressive birdies and an eagle as well.
However, there were many bogeys and double bogeys that took his scores down and he finished 12-under 272.
This was his second victory and winning two tournaments consecutively speaks loudly of his top performance in the current year.
His swing, scoring average and accuracy is impressive and he has ample opportunities to lead the scores at the Sicilian Open as well.
However, the field is competitive and Raphael Jacquelin of France is the defending champion.
He is confident and has enough knowledge of the Verdura Golf and Spa Resort. He is the only top rival for the South African player, Grace.
It is highly expected that a tough scoring battle will take place between both the players. Grace has to put in extra efforts in Italy against all the field members, especially against Jacquelin.
Grace has ample opportunities for winning the third European Tour title, as he can be a winner at the second episode of the Sicilian Open.
He has a competitive edge of better scoring average and accuracy. Moreover, he is also passionate and confident about winning another title this year.
All the features are in favour of him. The only requirement is to focus and to continue his impressive improved performance.
