looking at form from just 2 games no team stands out.

Australia defended briliantly but were starved of pocession and lacked attacking flare.

South Africa were reasonable in both games but just lucky to win against Australian and unlucky against NZ.

NZ were average for the first 60 minutes of the game and only found some form in the last 20 minutes.

  1. I thort that this would pretty much be a two man horse race between SA & NZ but Australia have proven that they are still a force to be reckoned with!

I think you'll have a better indication of the winners come this weeks match between NZ & Australia.

It's worthy of mention that with SA's success in the Super 14 comp many were of the opinion that they would blitz the Tri Nations ~ and yes! they have been playing intense rugby for the last so many weeks.  So what!

Had NZ lost against SA they could have easily counter claimed that they haven't had quality test rugby over the past several weeks.

When you say NZ only found form in the last 20 minutes of the match you're talking about International Test rugby.  They footed it with the Boks for the first 60mins and in the last quarter ~ did not merely 'find form' ~ but lifted their game to a whole other level that SA could simply not match!

I am picking NZ because those last 20 minutes were not only testament to the strength & power of the reconditioning programme the AB's underwent but because of the obvious depth they have in so many crucial positions come injury time.

This was clearly evident when Weepu, McAllister, Fillipo & Mealamu came in as replacements compared to some of the inexperienced & sometimes detrimental replacements in the South African camp.

  2. nz

  3. The All Blacks will win the tri-nations comfortably. They looked average against SA because they are rusty. Most of these players have had bugger all rugby compared to Aus and SA due to the conditioning programme. The difference will be that NZ will quickly get back into the rythem of their game and get better where South Africa's players will start to lose their edge. The aussies are not even in the picture. They have a new team with average forwards and will be lucky to win a game.
