  1. Circular Quay

  2. The horse that crosses the finish first. Because it was the fastest.

  3. Touting horses is a time-honored, (but not-so-honorable) tradition, but here' my 2-cents worth anyway.....Hard Spun. He has the best speed in the race, and the track is likely to come up wet, a situation which often favors front runners. He also has one of the best mud pedigree of all entrants, so you know his conformation (the way the feet and legs are built) are made for an off-track. He has won, I believe something like 5 of 6 lifetime races. This is a quality horse who has natural speed, class, solid connections and a liking for the surfrace. Betting on a 20-horse field is something akin to a crapshoot, since there is liable to be more than the usual amount of bumping, thumping and jostling for position, but Hard Spun should be - if his jock is smart - out toward the front, avoiding  all the carnage. The only caveat is that he has never won a race at this distance, but then neither have any of the others either. If he gets tired in the stretch, my little handicapping system - developed through almost 40 years of personal trial and error (and mostly error) - says to look for Street Sense, Circular Quay or Cowtown Cat to sweep on by. Good luck!  PS - If you are looking for a 'hunch bet' the old saying on the backside is 'to bet grays in the mud'....Following that old axiom would leave one placing 2-bucks on the nose of "Storm in May" or "Imawildandcrazyguy", the only gray horses in the race.

  4. my pyschic said its horse number 1 or 10

  5. Scat Daddy.  He's 10-1, presumably because of his 3rd in the Holy Bull this year and 4th in the Breeders Juvenile last year...  and because he's sired by Johannesburg who was more a sprinter than a distance horse.  But he's won his last 2 races and those 2 were the longest distances he has ever faced.  The only race he lost this year was 3rd place in the 1 mile Holy Bull.  Scat Daddy has twice beaten Nobiz Like Shobiz who has 8-1 odds: once over a mile and once at a mile and an eighth.  and more importantly, he has a new jockey.  i wasnt happy with scatty's runs under velazquez and i really liked the way edgar handled scatty in the florida derby.

  6. Curlin! 7-2
