Who win will the French Open on the women's side?

Also if Venus and Jelena Jankovic meet, who do u think will prevail? I know the recent history, with jankovic knocking her out of the french open last year, but u can never doubt venus, so what do u think?!!

in a matchup between venus and jelena, i think jelena will win, though i would like venus to win. as for the champion, i think this year's is really wide open. serena, maria and ivanovic all have very good chances.but the player to watch out for will be dinara. she's the dark horse. if she even plays her normal game, she could cause a few upsets.

Venus will most likely lose to Jankovic, because of her unique ability to make errors beautifully. But if she plays her game well, she will blow Jankovic off the court.

So my winner for the French will be either Serena (seems to be consistent now), Dementieva (if she doesn't give up from the start), or the serbs. Sharapova will lose pretty soon, before the qtrs.

On Jelena against Venus,

I think Jelena will beat her. They played recently in Rome and Jelena won the QF matchup. On second thought, Venus is such a good mover on court, she might overcome JJ.

On raffash comment,

That's impossible to happen, you see, these Serbs are on the same side of the draw so there can only be one of them to advance in the final.

I'm actually rooting for Masha though her chances of winning, i have to admit, are pretty slim. She'll surely have to work so hard to win every match... no matter how many hours it'll take.

i think jelena is probably the strongest right now of the field. venus did not play well in her first round.....she looked too shaky to me. and JJ did just beat venus in rome the other week as well,and has a 4-3 edge(last three of four going to jj and they were all on clay) so she obviously knows how to beat venus especially on this surface.

as for the mention of mauresmo.....you never know how far she could go! i was excited to see her today. she got through a tough match, winning easily in the third(looking the most inspired i've seen her look in some months),which should give her some confidence. and momo has actually a pretty sweet draw to get through....no major threats(bartoli hasn't been playing well and is apparently injured as well) plus she has none of the pressures she's endured over the years being a top contender. if she plays with the kind of inspired motivation she displayed in that third set in her next match,i could certainly see her surprising a few critics and going deep. i certainly hope so.

Hopefully Mauresmo, but it won't happen unfortunately. She has always been more than capable of winning Grand Slams, but has so much trouble winning the finals. I would have to say Venus, even though I really don't want her to win.

maria sharapova

      she will strive to win this tournament because this is the only one which eluded her so far. also because she is beautiful and i enjoy watching captivating girls in tennis.

     i'm also hoping that ivanovic and kirilenko will not be eliminated early in the tournament, their beauty are a plus in every competition.

    i'll go for jancovic over williams, i like the way she plays, always smiling

I think either Serena or Dinara Safina will win the French this year. Jankovic will beat Venus in the quarters, they've played each other 3 times on clay in the last year and Jankovic has won all 3 so why would this one be any different. Jankovic could be a threat to Serena in the semis but she's never been to a Slam final before and Serena's in great form so she's the favorite and on the other side of the draw I think Safina will definitely beat Sharapova and has a great chance to go on and reach the final were she would be a big threat to Serena. That's just my prediction but anything could happen.

I personally think it'll be Serena versus Jelens Jankovic this year. It's another rematch from the Sony Ericsson Open finals which was a good match between the two. Jelena will frustrate Serena undoubtedly, but Serena won't let her get away with anything and blow her off the court. I pick Serena to win her second French Open title.

I believe that Ivanovic will win the French, she can keep up with anyone and has tons of confidence from climbing the rankings so fast. She also has a game that can translate to clay very well. I thing Jankovic will win between her and Venus, because Venus has a more grass-court hard-hitting style, and Jankovic can supply tons of spin, evident on clay. There's my opinion!

I think probably either Ivanovic or Jankovic because Sharapova is so unpredictable. I don't think either of the Williams sisters because neither of them move very well and on clay you need to move well.

I really would have to say either Sharapova or Jankovic.  I think Sharapova is going into this with confidence.  Jankovic though has really been more consistent in my opinion.  But i follow more the men's side than womens.
