  1. At 135~

Styles make fights, and it seems people may be grossly underestimating PBF.

What do you think he will do, stand still with his hands down and allow Roberto a free reign? The guy is unbeaten and if anyone thinks he has not beaten real class opposition, I think he beat whoever he faced fairly easily (except, perhaps, the first fight with Castillo - and even then, Money May had El Temible figured out in the rematch. Duran will be facing a guy who can throw every shot in the book, fit as a fiddle, great footwork and speed, and a a good chin. Roberto could bang, but I think PBF is too slippery to be nailed with enough consecutive shots to be really troubled.

Do you believe Whitaker could beat or even take Duran close? Pea was not as good in my opinion as PBF. Yes, he was one of the best defensive fighters of all time, but isn't Floyd? For me, Floyd had a more offensive style and had a harder dig than Whitaker, but that is straying from the point in hand.

I do agree that Roberto does not have to worry too much about Floyd's power, but he will have to worry about his accuracy, volume and speed. And though PBF ain't no Tommy Hearns, he still hits enough to make Duran take care at least. Duran will be definitely tested and made work and definitely made think real hard to win. He does because he had that extra little bit in most areas than PBF. Duran wins a close Majority decision.

    At 147~

At 147, you would have to look at the intangibles, such as Duran's eating habits in between rounds. He grew up having to scavenge food scraps from dustbins, and when he started getting lots of money, I imagine he spent lots of it on food - this is evidenced by the fact that he used to sometimes blow up to 200 Ibs when he was in between fights. How much of a toll would getting down to 147 take on Duran? To contrast, Floyd is a very fit guy, always kept, and keeps himself in very good shape, and I think I'm correct in saying that Floyd has never walked around at any heavier than 150. Floyd is stronger than at 135, hits harder, and has probably maintained most of his speed from 135. At 154, he rocked Oscar with a right hand. Could he do the same to Duran? Probably, but Duran rarely hung his chin out to dry. He was a lot smarter than people gave him credit for. I believe Mayweather's increase in power could be a telling factor. He will probably fight on the back foot, with Duran pressing forward, but I believe Floyd will land enough telling shots and counter enough of Duran's moves and frustrate Duran to win a Unanimous Decision.

    At Catchweight (140)~

Floyd destroyed Gatti at 140, but then again, Roberto had a much better (and underrated, IMO) defence than Arturo. Again, I don't believe that Floyd has the power to trouble Duran, but may land enough to keep him honest. Like at Lightweight, Floyd's workrate would have to be top-notch, because Duran's pressure and workrate would be relentless.

    Duran Unanimous Decision.

  2. 1. Mayweather Jr

    2. Money Mayweather

    3. Pretty Boy Floyd

  3. Paulie you took the words right out of my mouth.  You would have another New Orleans No Mas debacle on your hands for all 3 fights.  Duran was great against fighters made to order for him but he was outslicked numerous times by less than great fighters and the best boxers beat him good (DeJesus in their first fight, Leonard in 2nd and 3rd fights, Hearns, Hagler, Laing, Robbie Sims, even Pazienza and Camacho beat him). Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time whether you like it or not.  He would have given Duran fits at any weight. I saw Duran in his prime and saw him rough up Ray in Montreal. Floyd is slicker and quicker and harder to hit than Ray and would not be there for Manos de Piedra to hit. Mayweather wins at any weight.

  4. if yhey were fighting in their prime it would be duran

  5. Thumbs up Ron B.

I wonder if the guys picking Mayweather, ever saw Duran fight as a lightweight. There are reason's why most of the "experts" consider him the top lightweight of all time. Don't judge him on the welter and middleweight c**p. He slowed down by then. It's a testament to his greatness that he had the success that he had at the heavier weights. I couldn't see Mayweather KOing Super middle's like Duran did to Davey Moore. Or going 12 rds with Hagler.

  6. Duran @ Ltwght

    Duran @ Wltrwght

    Duran @ catch

*There is nobody on the horizon like Duran for Floyd, Duran had all the tools and would have worn Floyd down, KO in 9.

  7. At lightweight, it's lights out for Floyd.  Duran would kill him at 130, where he had unmatched power in his hands of stone.

At welterweight, Floyd would outbox Duran the way Leonard did in the "No mas" fight.

At a catchweight, I'll go with Duran provided it's not over the middleweight limit.  Duran's just so unpredictable that Floyd wouldn't be able to read him and he'd just find himself flat on his back staring at the ring lights.

  8. Duran wouldn't have let Mayweather slip and slide away like he's used to doing,he'd have caught him one way or the other and clobbered him,esp at his lightweight best and a liile more difficulty the more weight he put on at welter,id still back Duran to beat Mayweather, above that I'm not so sure as he was really at his best at light and welter, esp when he fought Leonard and beat him fair and square in 1980.One of the greatest fighters in history Duran, don't know if history will be so kind to Mayweather, frankly I find him tiresome to watch.
