  1. It would just depend, the answer could go either way. look at some fighters we know that fit the criteria

For example look at chuck liddell, excellent world class stand up, with amateur a Division 1 wrestling background. The best light heavyweight UFC champ ever (hes not champ any more but when he was), whos beat great grapplers like Olympian wrestler Randy Couture twice, Renato Sobral and Vitor Belfort BBJ Black Belts and ADCC winners (i think)

The best example is Anderson Silva UFC's Middleweight Champ just watch the man fight its pretty self evident

Now look at Fedor Emelianenko, World class Sambo/Judo, the No. 1 Heavyweight fighter in the world, submitting most of hes oppoments most with an armbar or Royce Gracie

I mean the answer would just depend, but personally i think that the great striker would do better because a grappler can't use his skills till he has you on the ground of your "some grappling experience" is great takedown defense then his grappling is useless

  2. Standing=the striker 90% of the time

On the ground=the grappler 90% of the time

The other 10% which ever has the most heart and skill, and trust in me a fight SOMEONE always has more.

  3. A grappler usually wins against a striker.

  4. A great grappler would be able to grab

A great striker would have to be a strong striker

Size doesn't matter, just as long as you have the speed and most importantly, the power.

  5. The ground guy has the advantage. All he has to do is pull guard, then slap on a slick submission.  The striker will of course have a puncher's chance, but everybody has that chance. It is much harder to knock a guy out, when you have to worry about getting takendown.

  6. it would be a relatively even match, but on most cases, the grappler always wins....For me, the winner wouldn't be the better fighter, but the smarter one...it doesn't matter if your better than the other in one thing, but it's how you use the things you know...

  7. look at Kimbo Slice (great standup) he would get his @ss kicked by great grappler

  8. the striker has the upper hand as long as he has a good take down defence just look at the iceman how many times has he been tapped out

  9. the grappler has proven himself time and time again a pure striker cant beat a pure grappler.
