  1. I    have   played   at    places   where   the   ruling   is   a   little   different    but    the   all   the   rulebooks   I    would   assume    would    say   you    have   to   call   everything    that   happens    and    hit    and    make   the   8   ball    first.

  2. according to rule 4.19 Pocketing the 8-ball, A combination shot can never be used to legally pocket the 8-ball, except when the 8-ball is the first ball contacted in the shot sequence.

In other words as long as the shot is called with the 8-ball going into it's designated pocket, and the 8-ball is the first ball struck by the cue ball, anything else is ancilary, and makes no difference, as long as there is no foul on the shot.

Please note that in some bars, house rules dictate that the 8-ball must be made "clean" meaning it can't contact another ball other than the cue ball.  For such rules to apply, they should be made known first., either before the game, or at a very minimum before the shot.  You can't expect everyone to know local house rules as they vary from location to location, hence the name "house rules".

  3. as long as you hit the eight ball before his ball you win.

  4. If you're playing official rules i believe it is legal only if you call everything that happened (pocket, bank off opponent ball, etc.) and hit the 8 ball first. If you're playing slop then as long as u called the pocket your fine.

  5. It depends on what rules you are applying. BCA rule (Billiards Congress of America) is call pocket, so as long as you hit the 8  ball first and it goes in the pocket you called it doesn't matter what balls or rails the 8 ball hits in between. BCA rules are the World Standardized Rules and are used in the majority of professional 8 ball games.

If you were playing straight 8 ball, or gentlemen's pool, you have to call every ball, and rail the 8 ball will hit before going in the pocket you call. Whether or not an opponent's ball goes in the pocket is irrelevant.

  6. one who shot 8 ball

  7. if opponents ball goes in before the eight ball the opponent wins

  8. If I understand correctly it wouldn't matter if the opponents ball is pocketed.  As long as it was a good hit (8 ball contacted first) on the 8 ball, and goes in the called pocket its a win.  Unless of course the cue ball was pocketed after the 8 ball went in.
