I was playing pool and I had one ball left. I pocketed it and then the cue ball bounced off and pocketed the 8 ball. Did I win or lose?

  1. You lost because of the 8ball has to be pocketed by its own shoot, not during a last subject ball shoot. 8ball has to be called to its own pocket.

  2. 4.19   PLAYING THE 8-BALL

When the 8-ball is the legal object ball, a scratch or foul is not loss of game if the 8-ball is not pocketed or jumped from the table. Incoming player has cue ball in hand. Note: A combination shot can never be used to legally pocket the 8-ball, except when the 8-ball is the first ball contacted in the shot sequence.

  3. you lose... eight has to be an independent called shot.

mike no  one here is talking bout ur computer game bs go talk that over in the section designated computer games ... we play real pool here

  4. You lost....the 8 ball has to be a separate shot and you have to call the pocket otherwise you lose.  You can't win if it is pocketed because it went in as a result of another shot.

  5. you lost because you had to pocket the 8 ball at the end separately. Also, you have to saw which hole you are going to get it in.

  6. There is no legitimate set of rules anywhere that does not require you to pocket the 8 in a separate shot as the last ball in your group.

  7. hmmm...

    win

  8. I believe you lost because you have to call what pocket you are trying to get each ball into. Some people would put the eight ball on the white breaking dot and continue the game. In a real game of pool though I think you lost. Sorry :(

  9. If you want to get technical, I think you would lose cause you did not call that you were going to make that happen.  That is with the pros.  I hate when I play pool and people get all technical with me!!!!! In my book you won!! :)

  10. Well, acording to the Amature Poolplayers Association, or APA, you lost. You have to call and mark the pocket that the 8 ball is going to go in to. Knocking in the 8 ball without marking the pocket is considered a loss.

  11. You lost *  8 must be shot and called.

  12. Thats a loss. The 8 ball must be called and pocketed alone. If there are any rules that state otherwise I wouldn't even bother playing under them because they are a joke.

  13. Unless you called the shot of your last ball and the 8 ball in the marked pocket, in the same shot, you lost.

  14. You lost. It either has to be a seperate shot or be called it off a kiss (my own rule tho).

  15. You lost.  The 8 ball has to be pocketed last, but on a separate shot.  The fact that your last ball went down first is irrelevant.  If the 8 would have stayed up, you would have called your pocket and shot the 8.  The fact that it went down while you were shooting at your last ball caused you to lose.  The only exception to the "8 out of turn rule" is on the break.  If the 8 goes down on the break, you win.  Unless you scratch, too.  Then you lose.

  16. You lost. You didn't call the shot on the 8.

  17. The standard rules for almost every tourny would have you lose in that case.  There are rare exceptions where in a particular establishment, house rules permit pocketing the 8 in the same shot as your last ball, as long as 1.  You call the shot.  2. your last ball goes in first.  3 the shot was otherwise made legally.

The only time I have seen those rules in effect were the Enlisted clubs at a couple of the bases I travelled to during my time in the military, and a couple of bars.  Any standard tourny playing under the rules of a formal organization, it is a loss.

  18. I'd have to say you lost, unless the 8 ball went into the hole that's in the top row of three, in the center. My reasoning for this is because the top center is where the red arrow always points when you have one ball left to hit in, the 8 ball. Unless you changed the position of which how the arrow was pointed at, I'd have to say you had lost.

  19. You lost - see number 2:

    4.20   LOSS OF GAME

A player loses the game by committing any of the following infractions:

    1.         Fouls when pocketing the 8-ball (exception: see 8-Ball Pocketed On The

                Break).

    2.         Pockets the 8-ball on the same stroke as the last of his group of balls.

    3.         Jumps the 8-ball off the table at any time.

    4.         Pockets the 8-ball in a pocket other than the one designated.

    5.         Pockets the 8-ball when it is not the legal object ball.

Note: All infractions must be called before another shot is   taken, or else it will be deemed that no infraction occurred.

  20. lose
