  1. dawson

    woods

    calzaghe

hopkins calzaghe is the most important as hopkins is thought of as the best in the division

  2. 1)Johnston

    2) Tarver

    3) Hopkins

Hopkins is still the best to me, the rest of them are just fighters and Tarver is a push-over

  3. Dawson

    Tarver

    Hopkins

  4. dawson

    woods

    calzaghe

  5. Chad Dawson (UD 8-3-1) - Perfect harmony of size, speed, and fluidity.  Glen Johnson is getting old and struggled against some inferior opponents...

Clinton Woods (UD 7-5) - He will simply outwork Tarver, Tarver might land the bigger more accurate shots but Woods will just keep the activity going.  If Muriqi & Santiago can look effective against Tarver, then Woods can easily.  Tarver doesnt have the stamina or will to fight the whole fight (only in spots) and no longer has the handspeed for a KO of Woods.

Joe Calzaghe (SD or late TKO) - Alots going to depend on the judges and the referee.  I dont like Calzaghe and am pulling for Hopkins, but I dont see how Hopkins with his economical output can take Calzaghes workrate and handspeed.  Its hard to counter when the other man is constantly throwing.....  Hopkins does thrive when he is the underdog though so I wouldnt count him out.

  6. 1.  Glen Johnson still has a lof left at the age of 39, but I think that Chad Dawson is just too young, fast, and skilled for him.  Dawson is probably skill-wise the best light heavyweight in the world- he just has to prove it, and this is a good step.  Johnson will make him work for it, but I think that Dawson will get a hard-earned and fairly close unanimous decision at the end of the day.

    2.  I'm going with Clinton Woods on this one.  Tarver has faced two club fighters in back to back fights and the first one (Elvir Muriqi), he struggled with.  Woods, on the other hand has beaten Glen Johnson in a close fight, and Julio Gonzalez in a lopsided decision.  If this was the Tarver that beat Roy Jones and Glen Johnson, then I would favor him to win easily, but as it stands, Tarver looks like a shot fighter to me, especially after what Bernard Hopkins did to him.  He might prove me wrong, but I doubt it- I'm going with Woods by a clear unanimous decision.

    3.  This is the toughest one to choose.  I want Hopkins to win, but my mind is telling me that Joe Calzaghe's work-rate will be just too high for "The Executioner" at this stage of his career- if this happened years ago when it was supposed to take place, then I would favor Hopkins easily.  Hopkins surprised me against Tarver and he is something like 11-0 vs. southpaws, so he could land enough of his lead rights to surprise me and win the fight, but I think that Calzaghe will just be too busy for him.  The other thing to consider is that Calzaghe has only recently been stepping up his competion, and Hopkins is by far the most accomplished (and best) guy that he has been in the ring with.  On the flipside, Hopkins is 43 and father time WILL catch up to him eventually, and he has not faced someone like Calzaghe who throws a ton of punches from all angles.  I'll be rooting for my boy B-Hop, but I predict that Calzaghe will win by unanimous decision in a fight that turns ugly about half-way through due to Hopkins' making it a dirty fight.

The match that will determine the true light heavyweight champion of the world is Bernard Hopkins vs. Joe Calzaghe for the simple reason that Hopkins is the reigning champ, so if he wins, he retains the title, if he loses, Calzaghe is the new champ.  Hopkins won the true championship from Antonio Tarver, and he has yet to be defeated since then, so he is the current kingpin of the division.  Dawson and Woods are just titleholders.  I hope that the winners of Woods-Tarver and Dawson-Johnson fight each other next.  And don't be surprised to see Roy Jones, Jr. come to the light again to challenge the winner or Hopkins-Calzaghe.

  7. johnson

    woods

    hopkins

  8. 1.  Dawson wins via UD.  I would love to see Johnson win this one, noone deserves it more, I just feel Dawson will have more in the tank.

    2.  Woods beats Tarver on recent form.

    3.  Calzaghe UD by 4 rounds.  Definitely the most important fight in terms of deciding the top light heavy, but given Hopkins could retire and Joe could retire or move back down, it's pretty disappointing for the likes of Dawson, who is clearly the up-and-coming star in the division but will likely not get a chance to beat one of the top guys.  Shame...

  9. 1. Dawson

    2.Tarver

    3. Calzaghe

  10. Hopkins is the lineal, undisputed light heavyweight champ so that is the fight that chooses the champion. tarver and johnson are both former crown holders and everyone else are alphabelt holders. i go with dawson, he is younger more agile. johnson is beginning to show his wear and tear at his age and I don't think he can hold on for 10 rounds. i think the tarver/woods fight will end in 12 rd decision for woods only by a couple of points, tarver hasn't looked all that well since he shed those extra pounds for the rocky movie and at his age i don't know if he still has the edge he had 4 years ago. i think calzaghe will win because he will be the busier, more agressive fighter that is capable of outpointing a legend like hopkins.
