every fight that silva fights in he picks apart his opponent. 205 is not that much of a gain from where he is now. he has fought some great fighters in his previous weight that people thought would dominate him but actually ended up dominating them. i'm all for silva and i think he stands a good chance against irvin. so i go for silva.

Not so fast jack!  This is a trick question.  While it should be a foregone conclusion that the “pound-for-pound best” fighter in the game should dominate, Irvin is still a super striker who is always one punch away from ending any fight (see Chris Leban, Iceman, Drew McFedries).  The people who guarantee  a victory for Spider, and an easy one at that, are meerely novice MMA fans and they should learn the game before they try to take Joe Rogan's job.

Irvin is off the radar of most novice fans because he hasn’t had a three-fight win streak since 2005, and is only recently experiencing his first two-win streak since that 2005 win-fest with his gargantuan highlight reel knockout of Houston “out of nowhere” Alexander.  He's had a rough go of things and has proven to be streaky at best for a couple years now.  With all this being said I think Irvin has dealt with his demons and is ready to take a step into elitist territory.  This fight might be a springboard for him and it could very well surprise people if he beats The Spider.  I won’t be super-surprised if Irvin wins, but saying that, I still think the term “pound-for-pound best” means something, and it’s going to be hard for Irvin to avoid a submission if it goes to the ground.  Spider won’t knock Irvin out, but Irvin might knock Spider out.  Likewise, Irvin won’t tap out Spider, but Spider might tap out Irvin.  In the end the winner will be the fans because this is definitely a co-main event ppv level fight FOR FREE.
