  1. Mike Hunt, actually.  James was his older, less talented brother.

  2. james hunt

  3. Edger J says it all. Just found the negatives to a good pic of Senna in FF1600 1981.

  4. Jim Walsh

  5. Dan is quite right that Jim Walsh and then Nigel Mansell won the Brush Fusegear Formula Ford championship all those years ago but, unfortunately it wasn’t the major or the main British championship.  In fact Jim Walsh won the Brush/Esso series a couple more times after that but it was almost entirely Silverstone based not the British National.

The hot dry summer of 1976 was apparently the absolute classic season for British Formula Ford.  The racing was insanely close everywhere.  At the end of the year, the winner of both of the major British championships was the red-headed Irishman David Kennedy in his black works Crossle 30F with works Minister engine.  He won both the RAC British and Townsend Thoresen [mainly Southern England] titles, beating his main rivals Derek Daly and Derek Warwick who drove Hawkes.  Both Kennedy and Daly had financed their motor racing by going to Australia the year before and mining opals.

David Kennedy just about made it to Formula One but had a better career in long distance sports car racing.  These days he’s an F1 commentator for RTE in Ireland and involved with Lola Motorsport Management.

  6. Jim Walsh (the year after the champ was a certain Nigel Mansell)

  7. James hUNT AND HE WAS A BLOODY GOOD DRIVER::::::::::*
