  5. South Africa beat New Zeeland by 15 points to 12 in extra time! Justin Marshall lost the game for New Zeeland, instead of putting presure on Joel Stransky he tried to tap the ball out off Joost van der Westhuizens hands and Joel put the drop kick "over"!

  8. It was won by South Africa captained by Francois Pienaar. The match took place at Ellis Park, Johannesburg South Africa. SA won 15-12 during extra time. No tries were scored and Joel Stransky kicked the winning drop goal. It was also the first time that SA had played in a World Cup due to the fact that they were unable to play previously because of sanctions imposed on them because of Apartheid.

    The William Web Ellis (World Cup) trophy was presented to them by Nelson Mandela who was the president at the time.

    It was great to be in SA that day and I was a proud South African!!
