The Women's 800 meter freestyle race, does exist, however.

Rebecca Adlington of Great Britain won the gold medal with a world record time of 8:14.10.

Alessia Filippi of Italy won the silver medal. Lotte Friis of Denmark won the bronze. A 1500m freestyle race exists for men but not women.
