    SCOTLAND OF COURSE

  2. Er...

    No they didn't

They won the 6 Nations but Scotland won the Calcutta cup

  3. Jimmy, perhaps your chin got between your eyes and what was actually happening on the pitch but Scotland won the Calcutta Cup in 2000.

Scotland had won the previous tournament which was the last Five Nations Championship before the entry of Italy in the tournament.

In 2000 Scotland began their campaign poorly losing their first four straight games beginning with a loss to Italy in the Azzuri's first ever game in the championship. Nevertheless at the last hurdle, they pulled off a magnificent 19-13 win under captain Andy Nicol over an unbeaten England at a rain-soaked Murrayfield to prove that there is still plenty of pride and passion in Scottish rugby.

The arrogance of English rugby, which is clearly illustrated in Jimmy Hill's ill-informed response to this question, was highlighted by Matt Dawson who added insult to injury by refusing to return to the stadium in order to receive the Tournament trophy from the Princess Royal (patroness of the SRU) which England won, despite getting totally battered by Scotland that day.

That was Jason White's debut and he was a monster all day. I'll never forget Lawrence Dallaglio's face at the end of that game. Priceless.

  4. England of course
