Who worked as a housekeeper?

I am sixteen years old and haven't had a job in about a year. I had two jobs and they were both very bad experiences for me; Last year I guess I was lacking a lot of confidence and people bullied me at my jobs.

Today I was offered a job as a maid in a hotel. I will be working with an extended family member who is nice to me and older people (I like how they're older; girls my age tend to harass me). The person who offered me a job said it would be hard work but I suppose I'm okay with that. I love to clean and I want to keep myself busy. I am still very nervous, though. If I'm harassed here too, I'll know that they weren't just bad experiences; it's me. I think I'm a good worker, though!

My question is, is anybody working as a housekeeper, or has anyone previously? Please share your experiences with me!

i never did it, but it is pretty hard but satisfying work if you like to clean. It is also pretty secure as long as you are reliable, good at it and do what the boss wants from the job. At your age, any job is hard to come by, so i would advise taking it and learning the ropes from your family member.

this is obviously a job that requires hard work, so it will look favorable on a resume in the future. People will know you are not lazy.

As far as opportunities, some of these workers are unionized and the salary is much better, but that is getting more and more rare.

I was a hotel maid many years ago and I really liked it.

It is physical work..but there are many jobs much harder.

One thing I didn't like was that we were required to clean the way the manager wanted us to. Example; there was a certain routine from the minute you walk into the room. First we stripped the beds...etc..

Anyway, I met a lot of nice people and some jerks too...but it was decent job. It was always nice when you'd have a room that was barely used-and the people were nice and neat. But there are others who are total slobs and gross too.

If you are good worker and like to clean...you'd probably like the job.
