A new Tilly's store opened in my town 2 weeks ago and I faxed my resume a week before the store opened and left several messages on the "new hire hot line". I applied for full time merchandiser and have every qualification and then some and I havent gotten a call.

I went to the store yesterday and talked to a manager about it and she said they were practically swamped with applications and that the store manager wouldn't be able to start going through them for another couple of weeks. I gave her my name and she said she would mention me to the store manager. She said to just hold out for 2 weeks and they would call me.

My question is, why would they still be going through applications and resume's if the store just opened? Dont they already have all the people they need if the store is open? Also was she telling the truth or just trying to politley get rid of me... =/

  1. Jobs come and go, so although they may have the employees they need at the moment, you never know when one might leave, so she may be trying to keep you interested in employment. I would contact them again after 2 weeks. If you make an impression and they like you you have a better chance of being invited back for an interview. Good luck!
