Who would I need to contact or get in touch with in order to setup a recycling program in my local parks?

The park that I live near does have a few trash cans, but not one for recycled things like bottles and cans. I want to be able to have a installed trash can for recycling that perhaps once a week, I can go in and collect and recycle those cans/bottles. I live in the City of Oak Park, California. The Park that I am talking about is Mae Boyar Park which I am not sure if it is owned by the City or by Simi Park and Recreation. Who would I contact to be able to do something about this?

  1. contact you city parks and rec dept or the city sanitation dept

  2. In our area, we have a Recycling Authority that is run by the county. They are the ones that do the curbside pick up for recycling, and who run the facility where people take their recyclables. If you have something like that in your area, the first thing I would do is contact them and see what they recommend. They may be able to put out special cans or bins for "plastic" "cans" "paper" etc. at the park, and then just make that one of their stops.

You may also need to contact the Parks and Recreation department and ask them what would be the procedure to put something like that into place. It may already be in the works, and might need volunteers to get it to the finish line.

Good thinking! Your efforts are very much appreciated!

  3. I would first start with your city hall.  Find out if there is a need of permits and ask the city meeting and approach them and find out if

you need to contact on their behalf.  Good Luck!!!
