Who would Win? GSP against Anderson the Spider Silva given Silva drops to 170.?

Silva is small for 185 and far from being ripped, so he could lose the weight

Spider all the way. Also this would never happen, Silva dropping down, he has no reason to. He can't be beat at 185 now.

If Silva dropped, I'd give the edge to GSP. But......if GSP moved up, which I think is the more likely scenario, Silva would take it.

Anderson is more likely to go up in weight than down. He really doesn't have much to loose. Silva is way better in all aspects. He'd win it this fight was possiblem. He always gets that body triangle on the ground so GSP wouldn't be able to pound him out.

I think Silva couldn't drop to 170 safely. GSP should be the one to go up to 185 if the match does happen. Or they could fight at a catch weight. and I think Silva would win.

NO WAY IN h**l SILVA CAN DROP any weight maybe 5 pound the most but no way he can drop anymore weight have u seen the man he is a stick...GSP would have to go up and even then he would be at a dissadvantage because

1 he has more muscle then he used to and we all know muscle ways more than fat and that would affect his cardio...

2 botht have good ground games but i have yet to seen silva be really superior in ground yeah he chocked out Henderson but so did Noguira who anderson trains under so taht being said im undecided on ground

4.As for the long haul from what i have seen jsut by default GSP but he gained muscle so then it would be given to Silva

none the less it would be a great match but in the end as much of a GSP fan i am i would say Silva would win unles GSP can pull a upset..... also we have yet to see a REAL striker in the welterwight division it is mostly dominated by wrestlers  so yea....SIlva all the way

While I think GSP is better p4p it has to be noted that Silva is definately bigger. Unfortunately GSP's skill wouldn't be able to overcome Silva's size advantage.

Awesome skill < Size + somewhat less skill.

Of course, we will never know who is right because Silva would not be able to make the drop to 170.

Holy cow...where would he drop it from? I'd go with Anderson Silva.

I don't know dude...the fight I watched last night against Henderson...I think he'd win...Hands down! He was taking some hits from him and didn't seem to phase him at all. Muscle weighs more than fat and I didn't see much of either on him. He's pretty freakin amazing and has some pretty awesome Jiu jitsu skills. My money...If I were a bettin woman would def be on him!

I doubt Silva could make 170. His natural weight is hovering around just over 200.

If he did make 170 and was able to do so without damaging his body Id take Silva. He is just too long and would have a huge reach advantage over GSP. Not to mention that if Silva were to drop he would be a monsterously big 170 compared to what GSP is used to seeing.

If GSP went up and got stronger I think it would make for a better fight, because he may have the muscle and strength to take down and wrestle Silva.

To answer the question... I like GSP, but really it is soo hard to tell. They are both such dominant fighters it would just be whoever wants it more. Standing the both have great hands, but enter the clinch and Silva has the elbows and knees in his advantage. Of course GSP is really good with Takedowns so he might be able to eliminate that advantage by taking Silva down before he can throw the knees. Then on the ground GSP has the wrestling advantage but Silva is a BJJ Black belt. Everywhere on the mat they panout evenly.

As much as all of the GSP fans think hes the best, and he is very very skilled.....Anderson Silva is more dangerous.Period...

Silva would not let St. Pierre stay on top if he was on the ground, at least not without splitting his wig first...and in my opinion silvas kicks and his MT clinch is more dangerous than St. Pierres striking...
