Alright...just for a moment, let's assume you are awarded a CFL expansion team in...oh, I don't know...Halifax. Let's call them the Sharks for lack of time to market and come up with something better.

You are then hired on as GM. Along comes the expansion draft and you can choose one player from each of the eight existing CFL teams, with no restrictions. Who would you choose, and why?

  1. I would draft every available Canadian possible, followed by o-line.  Americans are always available as there are so many CFL calibre players that just can't cut it in the NFL.

  2. How about Rocket Ismail.  Or Maurice Clarett hahah....Peter Warrick anyone??

  3. In order to build a strong CFL franchise you have to have good Canadian talent.  That is the backbone of the team.  So you would take the best Canadian talent available (not on the protected list) from the 8 existing franchises.  Hopefully you would also be able to get the number 1 pick in the CFL draft and be smart enough to not trade it away.  After establishing your Canadian talent you would look for Americans (imports) to fill in your team roster.  The strong franchises in the CFL are built on strong Canadian talent.

  4. Ricky Williams hands down. Even without the pot he is good. The Argounats (cant spell) havent done much with him but he played in the Pro Bowl in the NFL. The only other player to do that, thats living is Jeff Garcia but he is past his time by six years.
