Who would be best to replace vinyl windows in our home, Sears or Home Depot?

Home Depot is cheaper but are they the best?

I would look at the quality of the windows both companies are offering and the warrantees they are offering and the time frame it will take them to have the job done! Also make sure there are no other hidden costs!Depending on the age of your house and the openings are they going to trim the interior and exterior, also are the windows custom fit for your openings,will they come out and measure up the openings and give you an estimate for free? Will they repair any and all damages that may occur {in removal of the old windows}to your interior walls ,dings in the sheetrock,ect..., and removal of the old windows, if you don't plan to keep them!Service plan on the windows,do they offer any in case hardware fails or internal springs break, or if the windows were improperlly installed ,and leak, damage to the interior could cost thousands,will they cover that? Look into every possible senario that could happen, and then make your choice, but make sure you get the coverage that you want from them, for your own benefit, get the best coverage possible!

Feldco if you have one in your area. (I just got a 3 hr spiel for 1 window! Learned alot) So I highly recommend you go with a reputable window installation company that specializes in windows. If you go thru Sears or Home Depot, you may end up paying more because you have to pay them and the subcontractor they farm the work out to. Make sure the windows have argon gas for insulation and have a low E coating for UV shielding.

Both use local Home Improvement companies to sell and install. You are better off find who they use because they are usually honest companies. Than calling them directly. Home Depot and Sears charge huge comissions to the Home Improvement companies making the price much higher.
