Fiction or real.

This is for homework, so if you can give me some reasons...greatly appreciated.

  1. Maybe former US Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson?  He explored the White house's reasons for going to war in Iraq and published a report.  In the report, Wilson systemically debunked or exposed outright fraud for all of the Bush administration's reasons for going to war.   (That's the Prometheus part - enlightening the world to the truth)

In retaliation, the White House outed his wife Valerie Plame as a CIA agent and ruined her career.  (that's the eagle tearing at Prometheus's flesh).....

Who else brought good things to light and then suffered for it???

Martin Luther King - forced the nation to accept civil rights for all and then was murdered for his efforts,

Charles Darwin and his revolutionary theory of Evolution.  He's rather reviled by a conservative section of society now even though his theory is true.  (And he was a man of faith and did not see any contradiction in his theory).

  2. Hate to sound cliche, but how about Frankenstein?  The full title of Mary Shelley's masterpiece is "Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus."  This has all been said before, but Dr. Frankenstein steals the "fire" from the gods (the ability to create life) and ends up suffering greatly for it.
