Question:

Who would be on your team if the DH was extended to all positions?

Thatis, if baseball were to make a horrible mistake and extend the abomination called the DH to allow a team of 9 hitters and 9 fielders (think like football is now as opposed to the early days) which players of all time would you like to have on defense and at each position? (LF, CF, RF. 3B,2B,1B,SS,C ) and who would be your number one starter and your closer? Also, who would you want to put out as your 9 hitters? Do not use a player twice - example - Wille Mays can not be your center fielder and one of your hitters. However, your hitters could all be outfielders - their defensive position shouldn't matter at all.

  8. 1-Barry Bonds (OBP, OBP, OBP, gotta have men on base)

    3-Babe Ruth

    4-Hank Aaron

    6-Lou Gehrig

1B-Keith Hernandez (11 straight Gold Gloves)

    2B-Ryne Sandberg

    3B-Brook Robinson

SS-Ozzie Smith (Omar Vizquel is a close close close close number 2)

    LF-Roberto Clemente

    CF-Willie Mays

RF-Ken Griffey Jr. (He does play RF now)

For offense, I tried to separate the righties and lefties. I also used OBP at top and bottom to do a kind of double leadoff and then used power in the middle. The defensive guys, I just got the best fielders I can think of.The OF is mostly CFs but I really can't think of any incredible defensive LF.

    SP-Randy Johnson

    CL-Mariano Rivera

I really didn't want to use the older pitchers like Walter Johnson or Cy Young because the game has changed so much. I would've gone Pedro because he dominated the game so much but Johnson to me was more durable and more consistent. Plus I think he had better command than Nolan. Mariano, well he's Mariano.
