Who would be the best ally of the USA just in case this conflict between Russia and Georgia escalates to war

As far as I can see, the US has no obligation to help Georgia as it is not a member of NATO.  Yes they have base(s) there and unless Russia did something stupid like attacking them they have no reason to get involved.

George is already an ally, that's is why if this conflict escalates, we would back them. Putin is very dangerous guy and is trying of protect his oil lines that run through Georgia and consolidate parts of Georgia back in to Russia. Bush however won't go there because of all of the other issue facing us. Georgia is on their own for now.

Notice that the UN hasn't been able to do c**p about this conflict, as usual. What a useless organization.

If this skirmish did somehow escalate to a point where the USA had to intervene, and if they had to choose only one ally to take with them (remember, they're part of NATO, so will have a number of allies to back them up, if the threat is legitimate), then I believe the UK would be the best ally to take with the 2nd highest military spending, resilient armed forces and with similar interests to the USA.

NATO. This conflict is seems like Russia trying to get to its USSR status. Having NATO on top of this would put them in their place. Maybe in 2 years if we let Russia has it way, we will hear news of tanks crossing over into Poland.
