I was thinkin that maybe we this section could be broke down into different catergories in order to relieve the flood of questions in just the Fishing Catergory Tell me what ya Think.

Something like this:

Fishing:

FRESHWATER:

SALTWATER:

FLY FISHING:

FLT TYING:

LURE MAKING:

  1. But then I'd get sucked into just the saltwater section and never learn anything about walleye or anything else... I tend to stay in areas I know... Reptiles, Zoology, and Fishing... I'd honestly rather sift through one section and not have to worry about "Is someone asking a question I can actually give a decent answer to in one of the other fishing categories?" Have I ever fished Lake Such-and such? Do I know what's biting? Do I know where there's good fishing in Somewhereville? Not necessarily, but then again, that MAY end up being one of the few out of state freshwater fishing trips I've made, and I might have some decent tips for it. But I may never be able to find the question to be able to answer it....

  2. I don't see a need for it.  You can browse all the questions in the fishing section pretty quickly now.

  3. Yeah, this would be a good way to sub-categorize the fishing area.

    Thumbs up!

  4. i think that be cool. ive made a fishing forum jsut for that reason. check it out

  5. "Sounds like an Oscar Meyer" ta' me ~ in laymen terminology that would mean GREAT ;)... < ' ( (( > <

  6. I agree with Winterrules -- there really aren't all that many questions posted here, and many of us have interest in more than one category you've suggested. (I read but don't answer an awful lot of questions, I think a lot of people do.)

Breaking up the category would add unnecessary complexity. Look at your list above: I think the "Fly Tying" and "Lure Making" categories wouldn't get more than a couple questions a week, for example.

(Look at some of the computer categories -- there seems to be a new question posted in some of them every few minutes. Compared to them, this category is very slow.)

What bothers me the most are the redundant questions (like "What's the best bait for catfish?") which seem to be asked a couple times a week, or the "Do you agree with me" ones (like "What's your favorite fish?"). But I don't know how the website could be restructured to get rid of them.

  7. It has to broaden at some point and this sounds like a good solid idea.

  8. sounds great to me - you could add different types of fish too... bass   - catfish - trout

some fishermen/women are very particular about what species they are after...

Also you could seperate it by parts of the US you're in (assuming you're in the USA)  Northeast - Southeast - Midwest - SW - NW ...you know what I mean...

  9. Sounds like a good idea to me.I had contacted Yahoo about adding a section of fishing chat rooms when I went in rooms. But that was long ago and they never responded after my several tries I stopped pushing.

I have my own forum which I believe we're not suppose to solicit member here. But it is on my profile...lol

  10. Yes! in-fact i posted this suggestion but yahoo didn't really care, maybe if more of us did so they might, the only thing is yahoo doesn't have a clue what section we would be contributing in the most, also the only thing is that i mostly would stick to the fly fishing etc, but there are people just starting out who don't know where to post the question, it may cause confusion, the last thing to add to your list is rod building and fishing over seas.

  11. I agree, here would be my list:

    Freshwater

    Saltwater

    Flyfishing / Fly Tying

Lure Making / Rod Building & Repair
