i thought by the end of this year they would go down

who thinks they have a chance in the playoffs?

Now people are saying "Theyll never make it past the 1st round of the playoffs. Those same people were saying "Yea, lets see where they stand at the All-Star Break" Then came the All-Star Game and those people said "Yea, lets see how they can hold up against the Red Sox." Well they are still in 1st, still the best record in baseball, have stood up to the toughest competition and are not shaken.

Maybe they wont win the World Championship, but they sure wont be embarrassed either.

*the only embarrassment is having 12,000 people in the stands of a World Series game*

ya i am very surprised but since the yankees are out of it (im a huge yankees fan) i would like to see them win it. i will be happy if any other team wins it except the red sucks. but yes i would like to see the rays do it. but u no what what the rays are doing is they are setting an example for every team in the mlb, they are showing everyone that you dont need a high payroll, you dont need top of the line players to win. and for a franchise like that to have one of the best records in baseball and have the youngest roster, im sorry but thats just amazing at this day and age out of all the other teams i have to say that  that is amazing. they set examples but we arent noticing that. good luck rays    BOO RED SUCKS

The Rays were hoping to be 500%. But, it turned out better. The Rays can be a 100-game winner this year. The reason for there success is there amazing pitching, both starting/relieving. But thats not good enough. How about the defense. The Rays are like machines in the field. They also have the bats to produce runs.Put that all together and you have a new and improved young Tampa Bay Rays team.

I think they have a great chance to make it far into the playoffs.They Play as a team as well as they win as a team. I wish the Rays GOOD LUCK in the Playoffs.   #1 New York Yankees Fan

I'm a long-time Rays fan and I hoped for a .500 year at the beginning.  So I'm really thrilled at their season.  

Playoffs?  They are almost assured of a playoff spot.  How far will they go?  Well they have winning records against the Angels and White Sox and .500 against the Red Sox (home team sweeps by both)  and Twins.  They will be tested this month with 6 vs Red Sox and 4 vs the Twins.  They show no signs of fading and if they continue their current pace they should have no problem making it to the WS.  ( They swept the Cubs in TB this season)

Don't doubt the Red Sox out until they're done playing the rays.  If they standings stay within 5 games and they Sox sweep all 6 against the rays they're done.  Remember the streak before the break too.  They'll get the wild card

Not me and I'm a fan and have been since inception. It's surreal but looking at the makeup of the team it's not surprising. I think getting over the mental block of losing for 10 years was the greater hurdle and they have. They will make the playoffs for sure. This 15 game stretch against division will tell us whether it's WC or division winner. They need to bury NY once and for all and split the two series with Boston. I think they have an excellent chance of going to the WS if they hold on to AL home field. However I am comfortable of them going on the road and winning as well because they have not lost a series since the All-Star break. But for now I am just happy they clinched a winning season for the first time in team history and anything they do from here is just icing on the cake in my opinion.

I'm  a Die hard Yankee fan, and I never figured that Tampa was a threat to my Team but now I know better. Tampa will get into the Playoff this year and go far, how far is beyond my knowledge!

The beginning of March, I said the Rays would win the the East, and go to the ALCS. They will crush any team in the Playoffs, and they will beat the Cubs in the World Series.

What cracks me up the most are all the 20-20 hindsight people. "Oh, I knew they'd do it. I picked them!" Or, "Anyone with any sense would have seen them coming." What a crock. They are baseball's biggest surprise. I am pulling for them 1., because they ARE such a surprise and, 2., even if they don't win the World Series, it's nice to see a fresh, brand new team in the post season. I never saw them coming.

They're basically guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. They've got a nice lead in the division. Where I think they'll end? At least the ALCS.
