Who would say its a good time to visit Venezuela?

There are so many negative stories, please someone from venezuela write and say........its great here!!!!!

Not from Venezuela but lived there for a year and my husband is Venezuelan so have visited often - Venezuela is fantastic! The people are lovely, the food is great and the natural landscape of the country is just breathtaking. Obviously I'm slightly biased but if you avoid the tricky politics (quite difficut as everyone has a STRONG opinion), it's a fabulous place!

I'm Venezuelan and I think it all depends on what you want to do down there.

If all you want to do is go to the beach and visit some tourist sites (except Angel Falls because it's dry season and you might not be able to even make it down there), it's perfectly safe if you're street's smart and speak at least intermediate Spanish.

Now if you want to get involved in political activism and go to protests or even look for a job, then it's not a good time to go to Venezuela.

Sorry, I am not Venezuelan, but right now I rather not go there because of all the military action along the border. Who knows what Chavez is capable of????

It should be because Holy Week is usually a big party.  But last year Chavez banned alcohol sales except for a few hours on Holy Saturday.  Check before you go so you don't have a "dry" vacation!!!

The day after Chavez is out of office or dead. With luck, both will occur at the same time and soon.
