  1. they should work well. If you're going to do any big mountains then no

  2. I've actually seen these on a bike and they're fine.  Look to me like they're made by Tektro, a major manufacturer.  Or maybe Promax (which is probably made by Tektro, or they could both be made by some other company in the same factory.....really).

Honestly I don't see much difference between those and something more well-known like the Avid SD-7s, which I own and used to ride before I went to discs.   As long  as you pair them with decent pads and a good lever, you'll be happy.  If your brake levers have a plastic clamp or any plastic parts, replace those with a decent set for a few extra bucks.   But the caliper arms themselves will do great for you.

  3. Look OK, I don't think you can go wrong with them.

  4. Well, they aren't Tektro OR Promax (Urban... they aren't the same company). They are made by Lee Chi of Taiwan and are low end brakes.

There are generally 3 ways that brakes are made- by casting, melt forging or cold forging (from worst to best practice). To my knowledge- and I have inspected their production facilities- all Lee Chi stuff is cast or melt forged. This means they would be found on bikes in the $80 to $250 range as standard equipment.

Are they good brakes? Um, they are OK for general use but not for bad conditions.

  5. Well.... They are rim brakes, but they'd be fine, I'd recommend going with a higher quality though, but for light riding those would work just like any other low budget brake.
