Best matchup would have been against the '91 Twins, but they would have lost all 3, no doubt.

Unfortunately your question is not relevant since the Pirates could not even win the NL pennant those years. Although the Bucs dominated in the regular season, they just could not win in the playoffs. It was a case of them reaching their peak too early in each of the seasons you mention. We will just have to be satisfied with the way things worked out and wonder what might have been.
