  1. Ryan Ludwick.

  2. I agree with Sandman

  3. I would take the 37 year-old, but it all depends on the situation. If the 37 year-old has 21 solo HR and the 29 year-old has 6  3-run HR, 5 2-Run HR, and 2 Grand Slams, then I would take the 29 year-old. Even though the 37 year-old has more RBI, it doesn't make a difference if he gets a 2-Run single if his team is up or down by 8 runs. The 29 year-old might have his RBI in 1 or 2 runs games. Of course in this case I would pick Manny Ramirez (37 year-old) because his stats are better than Jason Bay (29 year-old) with runners in scoring position, 2 outs.

  4. Manny because he's a better hitter and he's Hall Of Fame material except when he acts like a jerk and says i'm Manny Being Manny

  5. its hard to make that comparison. the pitching in the NL is totally different than the AL. Pitchers use varying strategies between leagues mainly based on the DH.

  6. the 29 year old

  7. The 29 yr old he will be there in the future and he already has just about the same numbers as the 37yr old

  8. im sure it would make most sense to make the person who produces the most runs bat clean up the 37 year old it looks like manny or chipper

  9. I think you have to try to factor in a lot of other things.

If there's two out in the bottom of ninth, seventh game of the world series and the batter represents the winning run? I want Manny at the plate, the guy is clutch.

But, Manny comes with a lot of baggage and can often be a distraction to his team. Not only has Bay done well since he arrived, the entire team has done well...and I think that maybe they are better off with Bay in the long run. Maybe with him in the lineup you would have sealed the deal in game 6 by being better as a team, and you wouldn't need Manny in the ninth inning after all....

  10. Well it depends what team I am.  If I'm the pirates, I lock up the 29 year old for a long time.  If I'm a team in running for the playoffs, I take the 37 year old with the consistency and experience.

  11. manny!!!  show the clutch numbers over the career....

Manny by far is the clutchest player I have ever seen.../

  12. experience wins penants...

  13. the 37 year old has better numbers, and you didnt say whether it was for a season or long term

for a single season i want the guy with the better average and more RBIs, but the 29 year old will last longer for a franchise

    This year: 37 year old

This year AND beyond: the 29 year old

  14. bay since he is young and eventually could become a manny if he gets to be really good

but as of so far he is doing great especially with that ball on the wall in Kansas city

  15. based on the information you provide it's a difficult question to answer. are you talking about for the next 2 months, a playoff series, 1 season or multiple seasons? you also have to factor in the career stats to offer a valid judgement on which player you would rather have. if you are referring to jason bay and manny ramirez, based on career #'s manny without question.

  16. sure

  17. Manny

  18. Of course I'd rather have Manny batting cleanup. He's a better average hitter, a better clutch hitter, and regardless of his age/off-field activity, he's still an overall better player than Bay. Bay is one of the most overrated players in the game (.215 BA w/ RISP), but I will say he's done a heck of a job SO FAR for Boston.

Let's look at this way: Game 7 of the World Series. Down by one or two runs. 2 outs. Your team is batting in the bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded. Manny and Bay are on the bench ready to pinch-hit for a bad hitter. Who would you send up to the plate?

I know my answer is Manny.

EDIT: As others have said, if you're looking for a good solid player to try to build a team with, go with Bay, because he'll be around longer.
