Who thinks it would be a dream fight to see Floyed Mayweather Vs Kelly Pavlik?

I think the best fight in boxing right now would be Floyed mayweather vs Kelly Pavlik. Although They are 2 weight classes and 13 pounds apart it would be possible. Oscar Delahoya once fought Bernard Hopkins and lost to him. Bernard Hopkins then lost to Jermain taylor. Then Jermain Taylor lost to kelly Pavlik. Also Floyed Mayweather beat Oscar Delahoya. I think it would be a good fight. The battle of the undefeateds. Who do you think would win? they could meet at 154. I would take Pavlik. what do you think?

  1. I would have to go with "The Ghost" on this one. He is just a beast, and the way he manhandled Edison Miranda and then Jermaine Taylor ( I didn't see how he looked in their 2nd fight) he would, without question, be Floyd's toughest opponent to date and he would put more pressure than what Ricky Hatton put on him and he wouldn't be able to hold up for 12 rounds against Pavlik. Pavlik wins by KO in the 10th.

  2. Pavlik is too big.  If Pavlik had to drop 13 pounds May might get him, otherwise Pavlik is too big and much too strong.

  3. It should be at 160 lbs and I would give Floyd a very good chance.  If anyone can he can.

  4. Easy one.  Pavlik.

First, the fight will never happen, nor should it.  Pavlik doesnt have much time left at middleweight.  He's young and will soon outgrow the middleweight division.  In this respect, they are two ships sailing in opposite directions.

WIthout Oscar,  Floyd has no other reason to venture into the 154lb division.  He's a Natural JR. WELTER at best, who just happens to be good enough to beat all the welters.  Floyd moved up for bigger fights, not because he could no longer make 140.  Kelly Pavlik will NOT be a middleweight for much longer.

As good as he is,  Floyd MIGHT be able to beat some natural middleweights.  In fact, Im sure he can.  However, Pavlik isnt one of them.   He's simply too big and strong and Floyd wouldnt be able to do any of the things that make him great.

Oscar lost for 2 main reasons.  1. Floyd has his number.  2. He Clearly DOES NOT LIKE Floyd and he allowed his personal feelings to get the better of him.

The fight I would like to see is Pavlik against Calzaghe.

  5. I think Mayweather would need to stay clear of Kelly Pavlik. I don't think Pavlik could make 154 and at 160 he would be too dangerous for Mayweather. I think middleweight would be pushing it for Mayweather and if he did make that move, he probably wouldn't be at the weight limit. I could see him weighing in around 156. Pavlik wouldn't feel threaten by Mayweather's power, which would make for a long night of evasive maneuvers for Mayweather. I think it would be a difficult for Mayweather to do enough to earn a decision win.

  6. Mayweather! All the way!

  7. They will not meet at 154, because Pavlik cannot make it. It would have to happen at 160.

Floyd would do enough to frustrate Pavlik and make him look like a lummox, but I doubt that his shots would hurt Pavlik. Pavlik is probably not the fastest boxer, or the best technician that Floyd has faced, but has tons of heart, and more to the point, is a natural Middleweight with a big whack. If Floyd catches some of Pavlik's shots flush, it would be interesting to see if Floyd can hang on. Flyd has a very good chin, but can he withstand full-on shots from a Middle?

I think Pavlik's heavier shots and punch output would be enough to win some rounds, but I think on the whole, Floyd will look to box, move in and out, throw combos like he did against Hatton (particularly in the 8th of that contest), and frustrate Pavlik with his speed. Floyd does not have enough power, I believe, to hurt Pavlik, but with the combos, and the 'hit without being hit' strategy should see him take plenty of the rounds. Floyd wins by UD, probably by about 3 rounds.

  8. This is one of those questions that is truly difficult to answer because of the great size difference in the men.  This is why they have weight classes so that men of similar stature can compete of equal terms.  A very good big man in his prime beats a very good little man every time.  Every time.
