  1. I think Cotto's style would be taylor-made for Pavlik. I could see a TKO stoppage between rounds six and eight.

  2. After watching Pavlik fight Jermain last weekend, I am very impressed with Kelly's heart and his chin....

I think he can beat Cotto, and I would fly to Vegas to see the fight.  They are both top notch fighters....

  3. Cotto would get Killed in this match ....Cotto is something like 5'7 to Pavliks 6'1 , Kelleys jab alone would probably stop Cotto inside 10 rounds...... that being said i would say Pavlik TKO victory over Cotto inside 7 rounds

  4. I'd pick Pavlik, but unlike most here, I think it would go the distance.  Cotto, at his best, can stand up to a lot.  It's also not a disadvantage being shorter.  You get in under your opponent's arms and begin chopping down the tree, which is exactly what Cotto is best at, and you can also get into a package defense easier.  But the upshot is, judges don't give equal credit to body shots, and Pavlik's style is tailor-made for the scorecards, not to mention that he's the new "golden boy," no trademark infringement intended.  I'm not saying judges are unfair, but they are influenced by a lot of things, including crowds and reputations.  So, I picture Pavlik the winner in a unanimous but close-range decision.  On the other hand, take a photo of both right after the match, and he wouldn't look like the winner.  And, lastly, it would be a great match to watch.

  5. i'm not going to get caught in pavliks recent victorry

i think cotto get an advantage here because cotto like to fight inside which is something that kelly is not familiar with. i don't agree with kelly having more power  i trully think cotto has more and he works the body so since he is shorter it makes it harder for kellt to defend himself

  6. Kelly Pavlik would win via mid round knockout. Early on I think it would be see-saw back and forth punching but Pavlik is the bigger and harder hitting of the two and before long would connect with some hooks and uppercuts that take the wind out of Cotto and once a fighter is hurt Pavlik is quite good at the relentless attack.

  7. pavlik is just to big and strong for cotto, pavlik would win by KO

  8. Cotto is an excellent fighter, but he doesn't have the physical tools to be a fighter who can "jump" between weight classes.  A fighter must either have tremendous punching power or quickness to do this - like Ray Leonard or Roy Jones.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto one day becomes a very good middleweight, but by that time Pavlik could be a light heavy or even cruiserweight.  If they faced off now Pavlik would stop him inside of 4 rounds.
