Who would win Michael Phelps, or Scuba Diver?

Me and a co worker have been arguing this question. In a 100 meter race. Who would win between an average scuba diver WITH diving fins, and just a speedo. And Michael Phelps as normal, no fins? both start in the water, 100 meters which is a down and back in an Olympic pool. My argument is that the fins give a HUGE advantage. What do you think?

  1. Michael phelps because he is the fast in the  waterm

  2. phelps would easily. he has size fourteen feet, which are about as close to human flippers as you can get.

  3. Michael Phelps would win.

Well, i like the fact u think fins make u fast, but fins dont always make you SUPER fast, they just speed you up.

Michael Phelps has size 14 feet!! thats pretty much close to the fins the scuba diver might have!!!! Michael phelps is like the fastest guy in the world. By the way, scuba divers have that huge tank on thier back, and theyr wearing a huge suit with stuff stiking out slowing em down, while michael phelps has the worlds most upgraded suit.

  4. Michael Phelps

    He's a star swimmer

  5. If you question is between an average man with scuba fins, and Michael Phelps, I'd say Phelps, easily.  Fins help, but only so much.  Your average scuba diver, dressed down to his suit and his fins, simply does not have the skill to use the benefits of the fins to propel himself fast enough to beat Phelps.

Now, could an "average" senior national level swimmer, or NCAA-qualifying swimmer, with scuba fins beat Phelps without fins?  Definitely more likely.

Add a tank, or anything else, and your competitive "scuba" diver will simply get blown away.  Scuba tanks and other equipment make the body to rigid--no flexibility--and take away streamline, and thus slower the swimmer/diver down.

  6. PHELPS!!!

  7. Phelps would. Swimming with fins on would create some drag and slow the diver down...plus he has a big tank on his back. Phelps would blow him away. Swimming with those flippers on takes some effort and are very hard to work with.

  8. i dont know man feel da power man i hate the IRS man! Hippies Rule man!

  9. Phelps would win.  His feet are basically natural flippers.

  10. They give an advantage, but Phelps would win easily!

Fins can only get you so far

I know it is a 100m, but you need practice and lots of it to beat Phelps!

He could kick 100m faster than a fast swimmer swimming!

  11. Neither, Jaws are going to win
