The stipulations are as follows:

-Four average, relatively athletic men

-Swords are 2.5 feet long

-Fight is in a pool with clear water five feet deep

-There are walls that go straight up at the sides

-Only one man needs to live for the men to win

-It is assumed that both sides will fight as long as physically able, until death

-The men have had no prior time to plan or develop strategy

  1. I get that the four guys are fighting each other, but who is the hippo fighting?

  2. in 5 feet of water the men will not be able to move or swing very well  hippo wins

  3. the hippo will win. men are not water creatures and their domain is in land. it's like the men trespassing in another's home.

    hmmmm...

on lighter note swimming pool water is way too different with the mud water of hippo so most likely, the men would win because the hippo would experience a change in the water's density.

  4. Mmmmmmmmm....i think the men(only their swords shouldn't be blunt) hee hee

  5. If the swordsmen do not immediately blind the animal - in both eyes, they would be in serious trouble.

Five feet of water is about shoulder height for the men.  Their bodies would be much slower in the water, and be relatively light, so they would not be able to 'anchor' their feet to give a grounding for thrusts.

It would be no contest - the hippo wins.

  6. i'd be hard to fight and move in 5 FEET of water so naturally  THE HIPPO WINS =]

  7. I would probably want to fight the 5 with swords  A hippo in water is in its own domain  and is able to move more freely in the water then the men with swords

  8. The hippo
