  1. I gotta go with blowbyblow here.

Absolutely, before I say why, let me give Joe Gans his due as being tactician extroidinare. There oughta be books out about how to fight like him....alot of boxers would benefit from it.

    But....

The point Blow made about Ray Leonard going up a weight decision to avoid Aaron Pryor is a very valid one. Aaron Pryor smiled at you when you did your best to knock him down...and I mean LITERALLY smiled.

Aaron Pryor LOVED to fight. Not the ring, not the boxing...the actual fighting. Aaron Pryor even liked bad fights. Watch him fight Tommy Hearns in the amateurs...Hearns establishes a jab early and tries to capitalize on it....and Aaron Pryor made him pay dearly for it.

Its hard to beat someone who is as comfortable with whipping your butt...AND getting his own butt whipped. Pryor was a throwback to the Spartans. He is the warrior defined.

In most cases...that kind of guy WILL NOT go down.

  2. gans is one of the top 4 or 5 lightweights. i would have him third after b leonard and duran.

gans wins a close unanimous decision here.

  3. Very good fight.  Gans was known as the Old Master because of his enormous boxing skills.  Pryor was a whirlwind along the lines of Henry Armstrong so this would be the classic boxer vs slugger matchup.  Gans also had some power though not as much as Pryor.  That boxing ability carries the day and Gans wins a close but unanimous decision.

  4. Aaron Pryor would have smoked Joe Gans if Sugar Ray Leonard was afraid to fight Aaron Pryor what dose That tell you Aaron Pryor by KO in the 7th round
