  1. thumbs up to albert.

tyson couldnt handle pressure, and you struggle to find a better pressure fighter than " the rock", who will stay in tysons face all night long and not allowing him to settle.

    marciano by 10 round ko.

  2. Marciano. He would throw Tyson off his game because he would have no fear of him. The first time the Rock hit Tyson, Tyson would fold up like a lawn chair. There is a 180 degree difference between the mental toughness of Rocky vs. Tyson. You shouldn't even mention their names together. Don't even start on Marciano's size. Holyfield was a blown up Lt. Heavyweight- you saw what he did to Tyson.

  3. most likely tyson much faster hand speed and hit as hard as marciano he also had good body movement

  4. Marciano would win.....If Buster Douglas could take out Tyson.....Marciano would destroy him.

  5. Check my profile for my answer I gave on this subject 2 days ago. Marciano would have destroyed the overrated Tyson. nuff said.

Additional: I guess to Ericktravel unless u worship Tyson your a racist. I think Ali would have massacred Tyson, but I guess im still racist in your eyes. Grow up man.

  6. All things considered, Tyson would win the fight Right up untill the time Rocky knocked him out.

  7. ericktravel - Thats one helluva an assumption, to suggest that Aceman's opinion is based on racial bias. Ace, like yourself, usually presents a good argument  behind his opinion. The thing that makes me believe Marciano would be trouble for Tyson, can be found in your answer. Tyson didn't have a champions heart! That is one of the most defining factors when determining a fighters level of greatness!

Neither of these two fighters fought in a great era in the heavyweight division (I do think Rocky's era was a little tougher). But Tyson lost in his prime. Tyson never came back when losing, and he was KO'd. Rocky didn't do any of these things! Tyson lost to mediocre fighters, such as Douglas! Just because he chose to change management, doesn't mean he wasn't in his prime. Also, to use the excuse "he didn't train" (not true{maybe he wasn't focused & didn't train hard)but he did train, also it was his responsibility to train hard! Especially as champ!

I'm white. I rank Ali#1 & Louis #2 i think both beat Marciano! I rank Marciano's undefeated record #3, but both Foreman and Holmes would have been tough for Rocky. But in historically significant value. I go with Rocky #3. Due to the fact he never lost.

Bottom line is Ace defends his opinion with historical fact. Not what if's. (like Tyson losing Rooney) You may or may not agree but making it a race issue isn't right.

  8. i just want to say fab answer from albert. He said twice as much as i could of i think rocky would win tyson wasn't the best with pressure and marciano i think with those heavyhands would win by ko round 4

  9. I can see the Marciano fans came out en masse today lol, I am not going to give you any BS answer let's be realistic for a change : given all his tools Tyson should be a hand full for anyone. None before him, of his type, ever completely demolished men as BIG as his opponents (jess willard doesn't count he was not even a good boxer heck, i could probably beat him). Tyson's greatest weakness is his weak mind and lack of heart.

Rocky at 188 can not beat Tyson at 216. Its simply not realistic, considering their styles to believe that he would. Perhaps, if they fought at the same time period (1980's and 2000's) the training would be different and Rocky would be around 200-210. A Rocky  Marciano at that weight would  have a much more realistic chance of winning. At 188 he's simply too small. I know he beat a few 200+ but none comes close to Mike Tyson (archie moore, charles, walcott and louis were old and nowhere close to Tyson in power and speed). But let us consider three things:

    1) Marciano bled very easily, was easy to hit and was prone to cuts, Tissue paper skin+Mike Tyson = Blood Bath, Marciano would not go down but too much bleeding would force the referee to stop the fight and give Tyson the win

    2) From a pure boxing stand point Mike Tyson was superior to Marciano in every way except perhaps courage, Tyson was faster,Tyson was just as strong,Tyson had a solid chin,Tyson's peek a boo style was light years ahead of marciano's, Tyson was a better combination puncher (Marciano relied on one punch knock outs), tyson had better foot work....thruthfully speaking the only two things that Marciano had over Tyson were heart and stamina, and history has shown us that these two qualities although great, are not enough to win fights against better opponents, Aceman said that tyson would loose heart and loose the fight, but you seem to forget that there is a point system in boxing, taking everything i said into consideration Tyson would be the most likely boxer to score more points and thus gain a decision.

    3) People like Aceman and some other people on this forum always use Marciano's undefeated record as excuse to place him on the top of the list, and condemn Mike Tyson saying he fought nobodies, they conveniently leave out the fact that Marciano's competition was not that great either, he fought old champs that were long past their primes, and then a bunch of part time boxers, Louis was old and in debt and a shadow of his former self, Archie Moore was even older and quite light compared to today's heavy weights, Ezzard Charles was 38 and in obvious decline, and Joe Walcott should have been retired by the time he fought Marciano, other than this all other guys were either tomato cans, part time boxers, or stiffs,NONE of the people that marciano fought in his prime could be compared to Tyson (like I said, Louis,Charles,Walcott and Moore were already old), If a prime tyson had fought in that era he would probably be undefeated too.

This is nothing but common sense, Marciano was good I won't take that away from him,but Tyson has all the advantages here. Physically, stylistically and technically, Tyson is just too far ahead of Marciano, it is just not logical too believe that marciano would win in a fight like this.

PS. Albert, by the time Holyfield fought Tyson, Mike was already in decline, watch that fight and compare Mike tyson's fighting to the way he fought in the mid eighties and you would see a very big difference, Mike Tyson already began fading in 1990 when he lost Cus D'Amato and fired Rooney. but I guess it is a waste of time with you and Aceman, you guys are set in your ways and there is always he possiblity of racial bias clouding your judgement.

  10. I have to disagree, I think Marciano's size would play a part in this. Keep in mind, heavyweights were considerably smaller when he fought. Marciano fought between 178-192 lbs. Thats CONSIDERABLY smaller than the "blown up heavyweight" that you are saying that Holyfield was. Holyfield was 215 when he fought Tyson, and was likely bigger than Marciano when he was fighting light heavyweight.

Also, so was the height. Marciano was five foot ten, Tyson five foot eleven....making them even in stature, but Marciano fighting likely the hardest hitting man he ever had fought, especially if you mean in Tysons prime. Holyfield is six foot two with an authoritive jab...and everyone knows that Tyson has trouble dealing with excellent jabbers (something that wasnt prevalent when he made his rise to the championship).

All things even, I couldnt answer this without favoring Tyson. Of course Marciano's legend says that he could take unusual amounts of punishment to get his shots in...and I dont think his mental toughness is in question.

But bar none, prime Mike Tyson, was an animal. His head and hand speed was blinding. His one punch power, much less his combinations, were almost unparalleled in the heavyweight ranks.

I truly dont think Marciano has anyone in his history, with all respect to the fighters that he fought...that says he could handle a 21 year old Mike Tysons power, speed and sheer aggressiveness.

  11. I do not know. I would like to think Marciano

  12. Man. If I had 100 Dollars for every time this has been asked on here, man, I'd have more money than Money May himself! Then I'd be able to throw it to you guys, and watch you jump for it!

To the question - I think it would be an easy one to judge. Compared on styles, well let's see Marciano did rely on his right hand allot and was always at this low crouch position which wouldn't get him by so well against a guy like Mike Tyson because of his height. Being around the same height but with Mike having at least 35 pounds on you is a big difference when seen in reality.

It was said that Marciano also used the peek-a-boo style but failed to utilize it through out the fights, he would always get tired towards the middle rounds and start crouching like an old lady coming in straight and wide looking for that opening for his right! I'm sorry but Mike utilized that style and made it look classy.

With Marciano I wonder how he would deal with Mike's body shot upper cut combinations? For the kind of crouch that Marciano seems to leave himself in at most times it would be considered a perfect entry for such a combination. I see it really hurting Marciano considering how fast Mike did it and again how no other boxer had ever been seen using it and using it accurately like Mike.

Although Marciano has been known for having a chin so has Mike against much bigger guys. Holyfield didn't damage Mike except with his head lol. That one hit that Mike did take and went down on he got right back up. I see Mike eating up every shot that the 185 pound Marciano gives him and still standing.

Also notice the difference in the counter punching department? Mike is a true master of it, the object to take a punch to deliver your power punch. Peek-a-boo consisted of bobbing and weaving while moving forward dogging the jab find the opening and coming over the jab with a hook.

Marciano basically is like a one dimensional fighter compared to Mike. For some reason I just don't see Marciano fighting with the 70's and 80's fighters because he was too small. Not only that but to compare him to a true champion like Mike in his era, why?

Marciano's style was "I'm going to hit you and hit you hard with this here right!", Mike will easily Bob and weave around those wild hooks and bombarded him with a combination that Marciano had never seen in his time, ever!!

A fighter like Mike Tyson is just too skilled and evolved as a boxer to be fighting Marciano. They are both around the same height but not in weight (Rocky would come in at about 185, Tyson at around 215), both used Peek-a-boo but Mike was better at it, both had chins but Marciano wasn't being hit by 250 pound men, they both have power but Mike has it in both hands (for me, Rock was overly reliant on his right, just like Frazier was with his left).

Simply put, styles make fights and Marciano's style would have been totally outdated if put in the ring with a Mike Tyson. Not only that, it would have been embarrassing. A boxer with skill is one that can kill, and Marciano would be in way over his head on this one. I just know that he showed major skill inside the boxing ring...more than Marciano could ever dream of having.

As for the action: Marciano would always come at Tyson with all that he has. Rocky has a tremendous heart (Bluedevil once referred to Rock as 'The man who refused to lose'...only, Tyson has tremendous power. Rocky may have power, but not as strong as Tyson. Marciano may have been undefeated, but the greats he fought weren't in their primes anymore. He fought an ancient Archie Moore, a washed-up Joe Walcott, and an aged Joe Louis. You have to give him credit for handling Ezzard Charles, though. He was an explosive fighter! The only problem is his heart. His heart will only take him so far against Tyson's power. Rocky charges towards you. That kind of style is a puncher's favorite since he doesn't need to chase the man across the ring and waste his stamina. Just look at what happened to Morales when he kept charging at Pacman. As for Tyson, he only charges towards you when he knows he can. He may not have been all that book-smart, but he was ring-smart. He wouldn't charge towards Rocky, or the tide would turn in Rocky's favor. Tyson would hit Marciano with power shots from afar. After wearing him down, Tyson will go inside and then upststairs. Then, it will be lights out for Rocky.

    Tyson KO Round 11.

  13. Tyson for alot of the reasons previously mentioned except no one gave homage to the fact that athletes today and of Tysons era are far superior to those of Marcianos day. The sheer athleticism  of athletes today far outshine those of yesterday,You  hear about this in baseball comparisons, about the strength of hitters today and the arms of the pitchers, they are hitting the ball further and throwing much faster.

In boxing that kind of strength and athleticism value translates into a major advantage. I dont pay much respect to those who question Tysons hear,if he were 21 and Marciano was in his prime Tyson would have no problem with heart, he would have kept coming until he was dead, the guy was fearless, remember we are comaparing the fighters in their prime not the Tyson who fought Holyfield, Lewis etc.

Tyson wins by KO without a doubt, too much speed, power, tenacity and ferosciousness, he was a killer.
