The reason i say Light Welter is becuase we know that Cotto is naturally big and Hatton has had a rough time at Welterweight, and proberly be harder fight at Welterweight. Also becuase these two never faced each over when Cotto was at Light - Welter for what ever reason, when they should have becuase it was clear they was the top 2 in the division.

  1. This is a typical styles make fights scenario.  Hatton would be in for a very long night if he fought Cotto at that weight.

Cotto would find Hatton's rib cage fairly easily, and Hatton would be forced to drop his hands.  Cotto would then go to the head, before finishing the job with a body shot.

Cotto wins by 4th rd TKO at light welter.

  2. HATTON ALL THE WAY! he's english ( :

  3. I like Cotto in this matchup, but don't assume that it can't still happen.  It was actually rather close to being signed when it looked like Floyd wasn't interested in Hatton (the first time they were to fight, in '05).  Floyd may have been the reason, incidentally, why these two never fought.  He's been such a "prize" to win a fight with, that other key matchups have clearly been overlooked.  Luckily for us, the introductions of guys like Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, Kermit Cintron, and Carlos Quintana (who all like to fight one another) has shown that actually, welter is where alot of the money is at these days.

Hatton or Cotto at jr-welter?  Cotto's hands can't be suppressed. . .not these days.  And now we know that little, fragile hands like Floyd's can knock Hatton into next week, so we know what Cotto's hands can do!

  4. at a lighter weight cotto 's power is likely to do more damage, and considering hatton's style i think cotto will brutally rip a new a**s in what used to be hatton's face.

  5. at 140 Hatton by devastating knockout.  He could go to the body as well as Cotto and he had respectable speed.  So many of you bandwagon Cotto fans get so worked up when you see a fighter win impressively that you cant put it into perspective.  Gomez is no Hatton and this fight was not at 140.  If you think Hatton would sit there and wait for Cotto to hit him with bodyshots then youve forgotten the force that Ricky was.  Kostya Tszyu would also have posed serious problems for Cotto at 140.  Its a good thing Cotto came up as the Tszyu man was on his way out or we wouldnt even be having this discussion right now.

  6. I think Hatton beats Cotto at light welter weight, Cotto struggled to make 10 stone and was a bit chinny at that weight and Hatton is a monster at that weight... but at welter that's Cottos best weight i would take Cotto to beat Hatton at welter.
