Normans at the strength before conquering the saxons in england and the muslims in sicily, and three full augustus pattern leigons?

  1. The Romans.  Easy.  Except you make it sound like the Romans are always gonna be in formation when they fight.  They wouldn't do that against a bunch of bandits.


  2. The Romans - I feel that they had better weaponry, tactics, and haruspices... but you neglect to give a location or time of the year for this hypothetical battle.

    I feel that both of these factors are very important when considering any battle, historical or hypothetical.

  3. I'd go with the Legions since they would most likely have bring artillery to the battle field along with fact that they they would have numbers on their side almost 15,000.

  4. I'd have to say the Normans since their main strength was advanced armor (higher tech then anything the ancient Romans could muster) and cavalry (which the Romans always had trouble with).  I guess it depends on the Roman commander since, if the cavalry was defeated, there was nothing too special about the Norman infantry.
