Who would win in a fight Miguel Cotto or Floyd Mayweather?

At first I was thinking Cotto would win Mayweather, but ever since he lost against Margarito (a boxer that is not a big name) last month, I'm having doubts that Cotto would win Mayweather. I need your opinion.

Bro you guys are seriously starting to p**s me off. Margarito knocked out cotto, not mayweather. Mayweather is not Margarito and therefore is not promised the same results. Tyson lost to Douglas but Douglas would have been destroyed by any of the other opponents tyson beat. Also if you didn't think Margarito was a big name you didn't do your homework on boxing. He was ranked number two in the division and held two of the four major titles in only two years b4 relinquishing them to fight cotto. Instead of telling you why cotto would destroy mayweather i will only display facts. Mayweather was set to have two more fights b4 he was informed that he would HAVE TO fight the winner of cotto margarito. Then he cancels both fights and retires one week after being informed of that. Hmmmm, I wonder why? Next Mayweather refused fights with Quintana, Mosley, and Margarito for five to ten million dollars. Who fought all three for five hundred thousand to three million? Cotto! Mayweather fans only look at his record instead of who he has fought. An undefeated record means nothing when you are on record for ducking nine opponents.

Cotto would knock Mayweather out if Mayweather actually tried to "fight" him instead of that little dancing pitter patter he does to win rounds. Mayweather lost a lot of respect from me when he retired after the Margarito Cotto fight was signed. He knew that he didnt want any part of the winner of that fight.

Mayweather will give Cotto a boxing lession and knock him out. Cotto got winded against Mosley. Just like Williams said, "Cotto is a 10 round boxer and I think he's a 5 round fighter". This is not the first time Margo been out boxed. Reason the Cotto fans are so pissed, because they was trying to make Cotto a champ too fast, when he haven't prove it yet. He was going to box circle around Rito, knock him out and maybe cruse to a UD. First they thing they done, when he lost. They started bring up PBF name. What do PBF have to do with Cotto lost? Out cry #30. PBF will mop Cotto all over the ring. Cotto beat a overated Quintana, half figher coming off 2 big losses Judah and a still good past prime fighter Mosley. People asumed he was going to beat Rito. Cotto don't have the boxing skills to beat Rito and never had to box circle around a guy in his career.

Cotto couldn't beat Mayweather if he brought his whole d**n family in the ring with him.

First of all Mayweather is a lot more elusive than Margarito,not to mention faster hand and foot speed,so Cotto would not be able to hit Mayweather like he did Margarito.

True Mayweather doesn't have the punching power of a Margarito,but he has more accurracy.

styles makes fights. tony style was bad for cotto. now floyd would not be agrresive like tony was at all...  plus he dont have the chin tony has.  the first 6 rounds taht cotto fought was brilliant. tha version of cotto would really give floyd problems.  

cotto would not get tired like he did wiht tony because he had to run from tony and the body shots tony gave him made it even worse on his stamina.  

i still say floyd wins by split decision . but cotto defently has a chance

Ok This is the 3rd or 4th time ive heard this. That Cotto lost to Margarito so that means Mayweather would beat him.  And you say Margarito was not a big name, maybe not to the occasional boxing fan, but full time boxing fans knew who he was and gave him a big shot at beating Cotto. And for a non big name allot of big names avoided fighting him, Mayweather being the front runner, Shane chose not to fight him and your gonna see Oscar avoid him too.

Now as for Margarito beating Cotto, Margarito is a huge welterweight, Hes more of a natural middleweight but dehydrates himself to make 147lbs then over night puts it all back on. Cotto was schooling Margarito, landing shots that would have crippled any other welterweight especially Floyd Mayweather. If Cotto landed even 2% of the shots on Mayweather that he did on Margarito, Mayweather be sleeping.

If you actually watched and followed boxing and knew the fighters you would see the error in your assumption that because Margarito beat him that Floyd would, It makes absolutely no sense.

You can think that Mayweather can beat him, I cant say your wrong, Ill disagree with you but Its just my opinion. But if your picking Mayweather to beat Cotto because of the Margarito fight then your horribly flawed in your reasoning.

Cotto is still the best welterweight out their in my opinion as I tend to think of Margarito as a middleweight who cheats the system and picks on little guys. His problem is that he takes so many shots and is so easy to hit that he cannot compete with the bigger guys and their power. But Margarito is making the welterweight limit so he is the best welterweight out their, with his actual lack of talent i hate to say that but hey thats the game we play.

But Cotto still beats up Mayweather, Mayweather retired to avoid Cotto and Margarito, I don't understand why people think he could beat either of them. He has no power, no heart and a suspect chin.

When Mayweather would go into his turtle like defense Cotto would just nail him anytime there was an opening, hed bang his arms and his shoulders until they bruised up and eventually would land a few head shots and knock Mayweather out. Mayweather could have taken even 2 or 3 of the big shots Margarito took.

It wasn't like Margarito went in there and out boxed Cotto, or out slugged him, he basically was a punching bag for Cotto and waited till Cotto wore himself out then punched back and put an exhausted Cotto down. It wasn't a chin problem for Cotto it was a fatigue problem.

Cotto would not get fatigued against Mayweather, but when your trying to keep a guy off you that outweighs you by 20 lbs and your throwing with everything you have and not hurting the guy that takes allot out of a fighter and that is what happened.

If they fight again Cotto can win if he makes it a boring fight, throws a few combos and runs, but I think Cotto's pride is too big to try and fight like a Mayweather.

Kungfuexorcist: How do you figure Cotto gets tired by round 4??? Did you see Cotto vs Mosley??  thats a good comparison of what would happen if Cotto fought Mayweather, only Mayweather would have less of a chin then Mosley, Less heart and less power Cotto would tear through Mayweather and that is why Mayweather will NEVER fight Cotto or Margarito.

i agree with you i would've wanted to watch Cotto face Mayweather but after he lost, it doesn't seem that exciting anymore. I'm pretty sure Mayweather would knock Cotto out
