  1. Oh...Kalib Starnes!  There's a mess of a mind for you.  Kalib Starnes; he the loser of 3 out of his last 4, he of the flipping off of the fans after Nate "Rock" Quarry chased him all over the ring trying to hit "the yellow shadow."  I mean, Starnes ran from Quarry the whole fight, and Starnes is a supposed Jujitsu guy?  Quarry is a “freestyle” guy, and Starnes just couldn’t do anything with “Rock” on the ground.

I would say Serra would win because Kalib just can't seem to get out of his own way right now.  Just like it's not advisable to bet against a fighter on a hot streak, it's also not advisable to bet for a fighter on an obvious cold streak until he proves he's through the fog.  Nick Serra is kind of a streaky fighter, kind of like his brother (but not nearly as good), but he is still a Gracie black belt, and Kalib, well...Kalib isn't.  Granted, Kalib is said to have "trained" under the Gracies, but that's not the same as being a Gracie black belt, let's face it.  Not to mention, Kalib wants to stand and bang, and is a disaster when he's taken down, and Nick Serra isn't Jeff Monson on the ground, but he's respectable.

Now, on the flip side, Serra isn't going to impress anybody with the list of wins he has over questionable opponents.  I mean, when you talk about soup cans, one of "the mad monkey's" losss came from being beaten by lily-livered Matt Makowski who won because Nick refused to get up off the mat after Makowski dropped him, then backed off to let him up.  How nutless is that?  If that's not enough, if you were to add up the win/loss record of all of the opponents that Nick Serra has beaten, you would have a combined 12-17 record currently.  Not very impressive there Nick!

While Nick Serra's wins are somewhat suspect, Starnes losses come against some legitimately tough opponents, such as afore mentioned "Rock" Quarry, Ushin Okami, and a decent (not great, but not Matt Makowski either) Alan Belcher.  This might be enough of an argument to let someone say Starnes would win, but let's face it, Starnes is a mental mess, so I say Serra takes this hypothetical match by ground and pound or submission in the middle of the second round.

Great discussion starter, by the way.

  2. Nick would lay in the center of the ring and Kalib would run around in circles for 15 minutes.

  3. Nick Serra, Kalib will just run around the octagon for 15 minutes.
