Both countries are to scared to use nuclear  weapons so it would come down to a stalemate as the U.S know there is no point trying to take over Russia. Its to big and Ivan knows U.S.A is a tough job as their patriotism would lead to either wiping out the entire population or facing another Iraq/Vietnam.

neither if both shows incapable of behving at the level of a 5 year old in a sandbox, then hopefully europe at least have the sence to act as the adult and mutual destruct both sides nukes with help of the rocket shield, cause seriously do either of the super powers think europe wants to be the backyard of a nuke war? Invasion of russia (priorly sovjet) have been tried multiple time and failed. grow up, even without nukes you can forget it, because there wont be a war without nukes in russia, their facilities so bad you can be sure some bombs or shots will asure a few of them going up, with wind polution the whole of europe would be in danger...The fact you dont know it dont mean the europeans dont know it, and I doubt you'd be welcome to land on our teritory to engage in a war with them that will leave us homeless...where we going to go? across the atlantic...no thank you

Europe may be allied with you, but the picture of america today in europe is far from the same glorified pic it was after WW2...sorry to break the news to you, but the sceptisim against US is growing in europe.

In a conventional war probably the USA because of its nimitz class carriers and superior training and equipment

In a nuclear war..MAD..mutually assured destruction..so neither or both depending on how you look at it

However, the whole world would lose out so hopefully it never happens..because of the MAD principle it is unlikely

Well whoever 'wins' will not really win. Because the cost of acheiving victory outweighs the gains of being victorious.

This is known as a 'Pyrrhic Victory', a victory that takes so much out of the victor that in effect they've lost.

A war between USA and Russia would bankrupt both countries and stop both being world powers.

Silly question. There could never be a war with America & Russia.  It would be world war 3 and there would be nothing left.  After the cold war ended relations between America & Russia were better than they had ever been and i,m sure that they will resolve their differences this time.

It is a truly terrible thought, as most of your answers reflect I do not think there would be a "winner". Should a full scale conflict between the US and Russia develop the whole world would be in peril. It is a complete loss of opportunity that all of the money and resources used to develop the weapons and military of both nations could have been used for the betterment of society such as education and research and a million other more worth while efforts. It is equally sad that in our modern world of communications and technology that Nuclear weapons are still the preferred method of communicating. MAD is nothing more than a method of communicating with a very bad ending.
