I think Cooney would jab at the beginning of the fight and then start to work a few long left hooks to the body. Around round 4 he would increase the pressure on Morrison, cutting off the ring and trying to catch Morrison near the ropes or in a corner. He would be successful in doing this and around round 5 would catch Morrison with a succession of murderous left hooks to the body while keeping him upright with his right hand. Following about five of these punches Morrison would sink to the canvas and the referee would wave the fight off.

I believe that Gerry Cooney would have used his jab effectively against Morrison and went to the body of Morrison.  Morrison has a little better handspeed and would probably land a higher volume of punches in rounds 1-6.  In the 7th round of a pretty good fight, Cooney would disable Morrison with a body shot on the ropes followed by one of his devastating left hooks and be the winner by knockout.

After losing his second WBO title defense to Michael Bentt, who had only eleven bouts (10-1) at the time, I'd have to question Morrison surviving against Gerry Cooney. I'm definitely going with Cooney, especially since he had been in the ring with some of the greats, like Holmes, Foreman and Spinks.
