  1. PBF would have a hard time with guys like Marlon Starling and Milton McCrory.

    Yeah........if you haven't heard of these guys then you know what Robinson would do.

    PBF hasn't exactly shown any kind of dominance at 147 lbs.  Comparisons to a legend like Robinson are pre-mature.  Heck it would be a pre-mature comparison even 10 yrs from now.

  2. thumbs up to blogbaba & toughguy, robinson is a class above....and then some.

  3. In my opinion Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest welterweight of all time.  Through 1947 and fighting mostly as a welterweight, hs record was 84-1-1.  He could do it all.  He had great technique, ring generalship, speed, power, and fighting heart and toughness.  I believe that he would have chased and caught Mayweather Jr in about 5 rounds and knocked him completely out!

  4. Sugar Ray Robinson is hands down the best fighter of all time.....but he would lose. Floyd mayweather is a new millineum fighter, new techniques and new training regiments. the athletes of today are more superior but it's only due to sciences and technologies. Look at sugar ray's fights he does alot of great things but he does a ton of things that are boxing DONT"S and he takes alot of punches. Floyd would win but it also wouldn't really be fare.

  5. robinson

  6. Robinson would beat Floyd so bad that Roger and Floyd Sr. would have to go to the hospital too!

  7. the best welterweight ever was sugar ray Robinson so of course he would win

  8. S U G A R     R A Y   N O  D O U B T ==T A K E   I T  F R O M  A  B O X I N G   C O A C H =W H O 'S  S E E N   B O T H

    F I G H T ===

  9. I am sure that even Floyd Mayweather himself will tell you that he would loose against Sugar ray Robinson.

  10. Robinson.

    I'm not just saying this because of Robinson's status or for any reason other than the obvious but Both Sugar Rays would beat Floyd rather easily.  Floyd is good and no doubt destined for greatness.  However, you have to look at the men he has fought at 147.

    Floyd held a clear advantage over all of them except Oscar.  He and Oscar both have plusses and minuses but Floyd just fought a smarter fight and Oscar allowed his hatred for Floyd to hamper his performance.

    Floyd has never faced an opponent who can do everything HE can do but better.  He's just a tad shower than Leonard and might be even with Robinson in speed.  Both Rays punch much harder at welter than Floyd and both are clearly taller and could use the height to their advantage against Floyd.

    Both are more durable though Floyd does train like a demon,  both Robinson and Leonard are naturals at 147.  Floyd grew into the division, partly due to money which cant be blamed.  It would almost be like putting Ali against a light heavyweight with his same abilities.   Only, in this case, Floyd gives up height, power and speed to either Sugar Ray.

    Robinson by KO in 4

  11. Sugar Ray Robinson would win, and rather easily.  Floyd Mayweather is not a true welterweight, clearly not the dominate fighter who was boxing's P4P best at 140, at 147 Floyd is ordinary.  Sugar Ray Robinson was anything but ordinary, Ray was the best boxing ever produced, bar none.  he dominated the middleweight division at 160, Floyd as trouble at 147.

    No contest, Ray Robinson.
