  1. The Dream team would have killed this team no one can shoot on the Redeem team and Jason Kidd is old and it shows. Who could stop Magic Johnson 6-9 guard the world had never seen one before him who is going to guard him he would make La Bron look like he was still in high school. The Dream team would beat the Redeem team like they beat the Russians

  2. I would take the Redeem Team. Back when the Dream team was playing basketball was not as popular world wide so the competition was easier. Now that Basketball is  played more and more world wide the countries are better which makes the competition harder and more fierce.

If you took the Redeem Team and moved them back in time to the Dream Team's time the Redeem team would be just as good if not better.

  3. REDEEM TEAM.

dream team was playing an international field that was highly undertalented (if that's a word), there were no manu ginoblis or gasols or boguts or anyone like them. plus the game has evolved so much since the dream team played on a court, the evolution of zone defense has really affected team usa basketball in the past (see 2004 athens debacle).

  4. Dream team, 11 of the 12 on the roster are on the 50 greatest players list. But it would be a good game, it'd be skill and fundementals against athletisism.

  5. Dream Team

  6. Yes I understand that the Redeem Team has a lot of talent but in my opinion if the Dream Team (in their time) and the Redeem Team today play each other the Dream Team would win.

    I think this because...

    Guards Match-ups...

    Michael Jordan

    Magic Johnson

    vs

    Kobe Bryant

    Jason Kidd

Jordan is and will be the best player ever and could, in his day, run circles around Kobe.  Magic Johnson was declining but he was still amazing and he could take Jason Kidd

    Forward Match-ups...

    Charles Barkley

    Karl Malone

    vs.

    Carmelo Anthony

    LeBron James

Yes, LeBron and Carmelo may be faster than Barkley and Malone but they have nothing in the way of strength

    Center Match-up...

    Patrick Ewing

    vs.

    Dwight Howard

This would be a good match-up.  Dwight Howard is an inch shorter but weighs 10 lbs heavier.  So it would be fun.

  7. Dream team 4000-2000

  8. Dream Team is better on offense and defense

  9. I think that dream team would win but it would be a very close game

  10. Hard to argue with this article.  The redeem team is definitely younger & more athletic than the dream team, the way I see it, this doesn't matter much.  The dream team was a bit older therefore more experience, whatever they lacked in athleticism they made up in sheer power.

Michael Jordan would've schooled Kobe and anybody else for that matter.  Magic would more than hold his own against Kidd (despite not playing a full year).  Let's not forget he did win the MVP award just two seasons ago.

Barkley & Malone were in their prime and would've been too much to handle for Carmelo, Lebron, and Boozer.  Too strong. too good.

Robinson was better defensively, faster, and more athletic than Dwight Howard, Redeem team would have to pray that Ewing wasn't on the court at the same time as The Admiral.

Bird's presence and leadership would've been enough to help the team.  Chris Mullin wasn't the best athlete or defender but believe me when I tell you he would've been the best shooter on the court.

    Dream Team all the way!!!

  11. reedem team all day

  12. Dream Team Easy! Most of the Redeem team would c**p their pants once they saw the Dream Team walk on the Court!

  13. The Dream Team

  14. The Redeem team.. The Dream team is full of 40+ year old males.

  15. dream team for sure

  16. to Gran's point, in their PRIME:

a SLAUGHTER of EPIC proportions...'08 would learn what outside shooting, EXCELLENT passing and defending minus the star treatment was all about...

  17. the redeem team is playing in an era of basketball much more competitive than at the time of the dream team. im sorry but its true.

  18. The article is correct about the center matchups... Dwight Howard & Chris Bosh got in foul trouble trying to guard softies like Pao Gasol and his little brother Mark.  They both foul out by halftime trying to handle Ewing and Robinson.  That would be a joke.

Magic hadn't played in a year, but so what? He was MVP of the '92 all star game and ended the game with 3 straight three pointers.

It's taken THREE YEARS of practice together for the 2008 team to be what they are.   If we just threw these guys together in the same way we did the '92 team, they probably wouldn't even win the gold in the first place.

The 1992 team didn't need to spend 3 years together prior to the Olympics in order to demolish their opponents, because every one of the NBA players on the team already knew how to play basketball.

In terms of "athleticism", who cares?  Our 2004 team was athletic as h**l, but they came home with a bronze medal.

Bird had not retired prior to the '92 games...but he was obviously going to, so I wouldn't be too picky about that.  I'm pretty sure he didn't announce his retirement until after the Olympics were over.

However, Bird won 3 titles, not 4.  There's no excuse for anyone not knowing that (the article stated that Bird won 4 titles).

As far as Paul and Williams having an edge over Stockton, come on...

Here are CP3's and Williams' stats so far in their careers:

    CP3 and Williams (COMBINED)

    Seasons: 6 (three each)

    Games: 464

    Total Assists: 4,071

    Assists per game: 8.8

    Stockton BY HIMSELF:

    First Six Seasons:  488 games

    Total Assists:  5,075

    Assists per game:  10.4

Stockton had 1,004 more assists in only 24 more total games played.

Stockton did more by himself than both of these guys put together.

Their scoring average is 16.7 pts per game so far in their careers, while Stockton's during this period was 11.6 ppg.

Basically, Stockton was doing the work of TWO 2008 Olympians.
