  1. Secretariat you saw how he won the Belmont Stakes in 1973 which is one of the toughest races for a Triple Crown Winner

  2. Secretariat.  He ran the Belmont two seconds faster than any other horse who won it at the 1 1/2 mile distance.  He ran the Derby faster than any horse and Preakness faster than any other Triple Crown winner (at their current distances).

  3. Secratariat by far, just look at the records, Seattle Slew is my 2nd and he wasnt up to the great Big RED. Seattle Slew beat Affirmed 2yrs after his 3 crown. But its still Big Red

  4. seatle slew. as racing progressed the horses got biger and faster.

  5. Secretariat, he owns the kentucky derby record.  should own the preakness record but there was a clock malfunction.  and ran the belmont stakes two seconds faster than any other horse ever has and he never even felt the whip in the belmont.  wow.

  6. I agree with you...Secretariat broke and set records..so..I'd have to go with him.

    Good Question..!

  7. The great Citation.  The longest winning streak in history and the sport's first millionaire.

The thing is, the horses have gotten faster over the years.  Affirmed's times were much faster than Sir Barton's because the horses that Affirmed was running against were faster than the horses that Sir Barton ran against.  Secretariat, without a doubt, has the fastest times.  But when it comes to a great horse who can beat anyone anytime at any distance, it has to be Citation.

  8. I saw Secretariat run at Arlington Park about 3 weeks

after he'd just won the triple crown.  What a specimen.

A real horse god.  Everyone was in awe when he ran

by the grandstands.  We all knew we were seeing greatness.
