Secretariat.  He ran the Belmont two seconds faster than any other horse who won it at the 1 1/2 mile distance.  He ran the Derby faster than any horse and Preakness faster than any other Triple Crown winner (at their current distances).

The thing is, the horses have gotten faster over the years.  Affirmed's times were much faster than Sir Barton's because the horses that Affirmed was running against were faster than the horses that Sir Barton ran against.  Secretariat, without a doubt, has the fastest times.  But when it comes to a great horse who can beat anyone anytime at any distance, it has to be Citation.

after he'd just won the triple crown.  What a specimen.

A real horse god.  Everyone was in awe when he ran
