How bout Sultan Ibragamov vs. Joe Frazier? Similar fighting styles. Might be an awkward fight.

  1. Muhammad Ali is the greatest heavyweight champ of all time.  You gotta go with Ali.

  2. ali would beat johnson on pts and for your other question joe frazier would of killed sultan ibragamov

  3. I think Johnson and Ali were alot alike personality wise and were both supremely confident fighters in the ring.  Johnson actually used a lean back type of boxing stance way before Ali and kept his hands somewhat low as well too,  Johnson was great at parrying punches and countering and had superb endurance and physical strength.  He was about 6'1 200 lbs compared to Ali's 6'3" 210 lbs.  Ali had the best footwork ever seen in a boxing ring especially for a heavyweight and extremely fast hands and a great jab.  I believe this would have been a match where both men would try to intimidate the other with little success as both have giant egos to go along with their skill.  I think that Ali would win the early rounds with his jab though Johnson would pick off the majority of them and land some clean counters.  In rounds 7-10 Johnson would make a solid showing throwing short crisp punches on the inside.  Ali would resume his superior ring movement with Johnson following him around the ring.  At the end, both men feel that they have won.  The referee raises Ali's hand by close but unanimous decision.

  4. Ali.

Johnson moved like he was on stilts.  He didn't throw combination punches.  Ali had better foot and hand speed.  Johnson was big for his time, but Ali was bigger, faster and smarter.  Ali (in his prime) fought and beat the greatest fighters of his era.  He beat some of them even after his prime.  The best fighter Johnson ever beat was Sam Langford, who weighed about 168 pounds when they fought.

Johnson was dominant in his era.  If he had fought in Ali's era, he would have been lucky to be a top ten contender.

John T has it right:  Frazier would have destroyed Ibragamov.

  5. Ali fought fighters from a much larger pool of boxing talent. It's like comparing a 1-A  High school football team to a division 5-A team. Ali would K.O. Johnson easily.
