  1. MONTY MONTY

  2. Panesar does bowl a decent ball now and then, he is not consistant enough to bother a good batsman who would just wait for the bad ball, which comes up at least once an over, and punish it.

If Panesar is the  best spin bowler in England we are in big trouble.

Can you ever see him picking up 8 or 9 wickets in an innings? I can't.

His fielding and batting are an embarrassment and he cant feild close in so he's a liability.

Some of the appeals he makes wouldn't come from a schoolboy, again, embarrassment.

Peitersen can bowl just as well as Panesar and this would allow the side to have another batsman or bowler playing instaed of this lame duck.

Ashley Giles was bad but at least he could bat a bit.

  3. Monty seems to win most test matches on his own without any help from the other bowlers or batsmen.

  4. Adil Rashid.

  5. At last I seem to have found someone who agrees with me in terms of Monty , The guy can turn the ball but only one way and class batsmen can play this all day as demonstrated by South Africa

Not just his batting is a joke , but awareness of what actually constitutes a run is non existent and that to me is just unacceptable from first class cricketer

The big problem just now is that there doesn't seem to be anyone else around who can spin the ball as much as Monty but I would opt to give someone a go . Maybe Rashid from Yorkshire or Swann . Monty must be told to get some more variety in his bowling as no 1 priority m and to understand the rudiments of running , If he can do those two we can probably overlook his inept fielding as you can see he is really trying , even if he doesn't always succeed

  6. In other words, Monty 'can't bowl & he can't throw', to coin a phrase! lol, I don't know the answer, but i'm sure England will come up with someone in time.KooKee will no doubt have the answer to your Q.

  7. cud b ashley giles

  8. Tahir should be Englands new Spinner because he took 5 wickets for Hampshire on the 13th.

  9. either me or graham swann

  10. Let us see who is a better test match spinner of England. My choices are:

    (1) Robert Peel: 20 matches. 5,216 balls. 1,715 runs conceded. 101 wickets. 261 balls per match. 86 runs conceded per match. 1.97 runs per over. 5.05 wickets per match. 52 balls per wicket. 16.98 runs per wicket. He took 12.15 percent of all wickets that fell in the series he played.

    (2) Alec Bedser: 51 matches. 15,918 balls. 5,876 runs conceded. 236 wickets. 312 balls per match. 115 runs conceded per match. 2.21 runs per over. 4.63 wickets per match. 67 balls per wicket. 24.90 runs per wicket. He took 11.83 percent of all wickets that fell in the series he played.

    (3) David Allen. 39 matches. 11,297 balls. 3,779 runs conceded. 122 wickets. 290 balls per match. 97 runs conceded per match. 2.01 runs per over. 3.13 wickets per match. 93 balls per wicket. 30.98 runs per wicket. He took 7.04 percent of all wickets that fell in the series he played.

    (4) James Laker: 46 matches. 12,027 balls. 4,101 runs conceded. 193 wickets. 261 balls per match. 89 runs conceded per match. 2.05 runs per over. 4.20 wickets per match. 62 balls per wicket. 21.25 runs per wicket. He took 9.12 percent of all wickets that fell in the series he played.

    (5) Monty Panesar: 33 matches. 7,681 balls. 3,630 runs conceded. 114 wickets. 233 balls per match. 110 runs conceded per match. 2.84 runs per over. 3.45 wickets per match. 67 balls per wicket. 31.84 runs per wicket. He took 10.56 percent of all wickets that fell in the series he played.

Then you have Tony Lock. Maurice Tate, Underwood, Verity, Doug Wright, Johnny Wardle, John Briggs, Mike Hendrick, Phil Tufnell, etc.

If Monty is there as the all-time 5th best of England, there is some spark in him. Don't you think ? I don't think he is a mediocre bowler.

England produced good lot of pacers like Sydney Barnes, Freddie Trueman, John Snow, Angus Fraser, Dominic Cork, James Anderson, JB Statham, Steve Harmison, Andrew Caddick, Bob Willis, Ian Botham, Darren Gough, Matthew Hoggard, Dilley, JK Lever, Fred Titmus, David Brown, Geoff Arnold, Harold Larwood, Bill Voce, Neil Foster, Chris Old, Devon Malcolm, Chris Lewis, GOB Allen, Flintoff, etc.

  11. THEIR IS ONLY ONE MONTY PANESAR, HIS JOB IS TO BOWL AND HE DOES THAT WELL, HIS BATTING ABILITY IS OF NO RELEVENCE.

  12. they can give Monty another chance or two

  13. go here:http://fortysixland.myminicity.com/ind

  14. monty panesar is the better choice

  15. maybe graeme Swann will be given ago, there are one or two others i can think of Abdul Rashid being one of those.

As for Monty i like him, he's a real trier he does need another delivery in his armoury, maybe he needs to spend some time with the likes of Daniel Vettori

  16. Liam Dawson

England U19 and Hampshire Batsman. Bowls very nice left arm spin.

  17. As a true blue Aussie, I'm hoping and praying that they bring back Ashley Giles for the Ashes in '09

  18. The spinner these days needs to be a part timer and mainly a batter. This is because in England in recent years the pitches do not deteriorate as each day passes. The pitches no longer take as much turn,so spinners are used less. The same is happening but slower,in SA.Aus and NZ,so it is only vital to have world class spinners for India and Pakistan.

In england having a spinner who can't field, catch, run and bat is too much of a luxury,we need a batter come spinner.Peterson is no good though, lacks all control

  19. I like Monty. He bowls exceptionally well and he shouldn't be judged by his batting abilities if he's batting No.11. He should be recognized for taking down wickets.

    Hope that helps.

  20. Monty is the best spin bowler in England. Enough said.

  21. Sorry, Monty does it for me, he takes useful wickets when the seamers are struggling, and his enthusiasm for the game rubs off on the other players, and with Giles retired, I can't think of anybody who could replace him.

  22. i think Monty should be England's spinner he has proven to be useful at times when england need a break through.

  23. They should stick with Monty.  This video of Monty batting is so funny.

  24. monty is not an england spinner, he is an indian spinner who plays for england...

  25. I disagree, Monty has done well. He is selected on the basis that he is a bowler. If he can get a few runs, great, but his job is to take wickets. Who would you have, the "farmer".

Vsssama, you remind me of a politician. Why use a few words when you can use a full page. Your last paragraph adequately covered the question.
