  1. Jesus Christ

  2. as of now, MLK

but pretty soon, Obama might take that place

  3. I don't know but my favorite is  the late Mother Waddles.  Donate your car if you can Detroit.

  4. That's kinda hard to decide. More so do you mean overall? If over all I'd say Martin Luther King Jr.; yes corny but true in my eyes none the less. :)

  5. Tiger Woods, even though he is NOT African American. He IS the best of America which is  "hybrid" mix. So why him? BTW I hate golf & am no Tiger fan. I believe he has softened the racism in the world and opened doors for others. I honestly believe just his image set the stage for Obama. Most African & African American political figures are seen as too focussed with specific issues relating to their race. i.e. Mr. Mandela (great great man) or Jesse Jackson (selfish man). Both are examples of men who great or not hold an image that relates to their race. Then there is the stars & celbrities who do not hold race image but also fail to provide an image of substance. Mr. Woods is however a man who is talented, famous, dark skinned, non threatening, does not focus on race, is eloquent, good looking (always helps to catch societies attention), and is what most people would label as a "good role model". So there is one man by virtue of just being famous and decent was able to break down many racists and stereotype barriers but at the end of the day is still realized as being african american or black. A dam collapsed with a smile & a whisper, voila

btw, your question suggested "living" otherwise the field is huge and far beyond the historical knowledge of myself or probably anybody else on this site tonight cuz we only like to learn & remember recent events, not anything100's of years ago

  6. currently living:

Muhammed Ali - he is beloved all over the world and draws huge crowds everywhere he goes.

Barack Obama and Tiger Woods are not Afro Americans.

They can only be half Afro-American since they both had one parent that was not black. or African.

Nelson Mandella is probably the most influential African

  7. I would say Kofi Annan.

  8. Frederick Douglas

  9. Nelson Mandella

  10. harriet tubman she is the most influential because she risked her life to save others of their misery! anyone willing to risk themselves is like a hero

  11. I list it from the most to the least

    - Marthin Luther King, Jr.

    - Michael Jackson

    - Oprah Winfrey

    - Kobe Bryant

That's all I can think for now...
